The best lego set ever
on September 14, 2022

Words cant describe the behemoth of a set the UCS AT-AT is. It is my favorite Star Wars vehicle and see it in a massive lego set was like a dream come true. The building experince was complex yet rewarding as it is reflected in all the insane details this model contains. Also the model resulted a lot more sturdy than I initially expected which am really happy about. I would definetly recommend this set especially to any hardcore Star Wars fan and I hope LEGO releases in the near future complementary rebel sets to go along the AT-AT. Overall great design and cant wait what LEGO has stored for us.

Be careful

This is easily the most intense kit build I've done. Instructions are good, but there are components that are very delicate, and a rebuild requires a difficult tear down. I love the model and once built it is a beautiful display piece and is magnificently engineered.

Had such high hopes for this build...

I saved VIP points, asked for nothing but Lego Gift cards for every gift-giving holiday, and finally had enough to purchase this most desired set. I've always loved the AT-AT and couldn't wait to get this set, but I must say that it has been a let down. 1. There were several missing pieces throughout the build. Luckily, I had spares that would work so I didn't have to wait until replacements were shipped. (never bothered to order the replacements) 2. The construction is not well thought out. MANY times during the build, pieces would pop off while trying to attach the next pieces. Many parts are connected by only one stud and pop off quite easily. It is not a very sturdy design. 3. It is very awkward to get it to stand. The pic in the manual that has the green check for proper leg placement only shows the right side legs clearly, so it is difficult to see the proper placement of the left side legs. Mine has fallen over at least 3 times. The first two times I made repairs...the last time, I dismantled the whole thing and rebuilt it to make sure there weren't any mistakes on my part. 4. SO many pieces fall off when trying to move or adjust the finished product. Pieces from the underside and back side pop off when barely bumped. Many responses to these types of comments are to make sure the pieces are firmly pressed together. Believe me, they are firmly pressed! So much so that other pieces usually pop off when the original pieces are replaced. It is very frustrating. I love the concept of this build, but a lot of joy was missing. If it continues to stand, it makes an impressive display set...that is the only reason I marked it as "Yes, I would recommend it to others". I do wish I had bought a different UCS kit... I build Lego to relax and de-stress. This kit was a constant source of stress throughout!

Best UCS set? Maybe. Incredible build? Absolutely!

This UCS AT-AT model is a wonderful build, both in terms of building experience and the model you have at the end. It rivals the UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) in those areas. The intricacy, technicality, and attention to detail is superb. The size and scale is simply massive. And, impressively, it does offer “play” features, although these should be considered more as “display” features. You can adjust the legs and feet to different angles and positions, move and open the head/cockpit and remove the head and main body side panels for a cross-section view, use the snow speeder bikes and tripod blaster, attach a Luke minifigure to the AT-AT’s belly with his lightsaber as if he’s about to blow it up in the iconic The Empire Strikes Back scene, and add 30 more snowtroopers to fill in the interior seating (which I did, and it is worth it!). It’s simply stunning to look at, it stands sturdy on its own, and it’s fun to change up the poses and remove the panels to see the interior. The most impressive and fun part of the build, for me, was the head and neck, which is so well designed, looks amazing and intimidating, and articulates and moves just like in the films. The big blaster cannons even have moving recoil action! Perfect.
The building experience itself is incredible. It is essentially a giant posable Technic model with detailed gray plating on the outside and a very detailed interior, so you work with a lot of different types of pieces and unique building methods, which make the repetitive parts (mostly the legs) much more interesting to complete. There is a lot of symmetry so there’s some repetition there too, but again, the detail, structure, and way it is built makes it interesting and engaging.
This thing is huge, and I needed 2 tables to assemble it - one to place the model on once the legs were attached to the main supporting platform, and one to build components that I added to the model as I finished each section. But one bigger table would work. Having space to build (and display) is key. Like the UCS Millennium Falcon, it comes with 4 boxes of pieces inside the main box, with 18 sets of bags in total, and it took me about 2 weeks of slow, casual building to finish with one bag set at a time. It does demand attention and patience to make sure you get everything correct since it is such a technical model. I made a couple of small, quickly fixable mistakes, but it would be frustrating to make larger mistakes and have to significantly disassemble, so taking your time with this one is worth it, especially considering the cost. But the instructions do a very good job at having you pause at crucial steps to make sure you have everything right. It was also fun to read about how it was designed while I worked through the instruction books (4 books in total, one per box, rather than a single massive book).
Overall, I rate this 5 stars, right up there with the UCS Millennium Falcon. The Falcon is my favorite, but this is a very close second. If you can budget it (it is expensive, especially for the piece count), get it before it retires!

Great design but poor quality control
on December 30, 2021

I am loving building the AT-AT as it is one of my favourite Star Wars models. However, I am very disappointed by the number of missing pieces. So far I have 3 missing pieces and I am only half way through box 3 of 4. I have not experienced this with lego before and I have many ucs sets. I can’t help thinking that lego rushed this set out and have neglected their usually high quality control standards. Given the price the model this is very disappointing and unacceptable. More care should have been taken over what is the most expensive lego set ever sold! If lego care about their long standing customers, a discount should be offered on the next ucs set for those people who have been let down this time.

Behemoth Build

What can I say but WOW! This walker is amazing. I've had so many variants over the years but this one takes the forever throne. The sheer size of this thing is amazing. The attention to detail is quite something. Hats off to the designer! If you are looking to buy this set, make sure you have the room first! But I give this a must buy if you're star wars fan. Especially if you love lego as much as I do!

So Tired of Poor Reviews for Missing Pieces
on December 15, 2021
Posted by: ValiantCentipede014
First and foremost, I think Lego does an excellent job with quality control and part distribution. In the 20 years I have been building many, many sets I have had only one part missing and some that were brittle. I think that is pretty remarkable all things considered. I would never give a product a poor review because of a missing part and accuse Lego of not having better QC. That is absolutely preposterous considering the review is on the product design, build, and value for the money. I would bet money that 90% of the missing parts are due to builder error or loss. Be fair and provide reviews on the product itself and not a missing piece. Just my two cents...
Amazing set by the way and I would highly recommend. Fun from the start to finish and the size is absolutely glorious.

Ridiculously fragile

It's a cool model, but finicky to build and ridiculously fragile.
