Received today but wife says have to wait for Xmas
on November 29, 2021

My AT-AT arrived today (yeah!) but as this is a Christmas present from my wife, she says I have to wait until Christmas day to open (boo!) Her "rationale" is that since I already received and built the LEGO "Titanic" (which is completely and totally awesome by the way...), I can wait a few weeks to dig in to the AT-AT. She also made some comment about using the next three weeks to get things done around the house rather than working on LEGO every night. She may have a point (ha!) but the next three weeks are going to take forever! I feel...well...I feel just like a kid at Christmas!
Speaking of feeling like a kid, I've rediscovered LEGO this past year, having built probably 30 sets. In the process, I've rediscovered my childhood. Thank you, LEGO, for that amazing gift.

Fun Build but VERY FRAGILE

Got as a Christmas present. Had a great time building until the body got so top heavy. Trying to move the project caused several pieces to fall off and the legs kept moving. the project is seriously top heavy and when I moved it on completion I did not have the legs exactly correct and it toppled over and exploded. SO VERY DISAPPOINTED

Great addition to the collection, but....

Like all the other Collector Star Wars models, the AT-AT has a lot of excellent subtle details including the Empire’s logo on the tool to adjust the leg joints, small doors and access panels, and all points of articulation. This model is very sturdy, and feels more solid especially compared to the relatively delicate Millennium Falcon.
Normally, these Ultimate Collector Series come with one large and amazing spiral bound instruction book with , but the AT-AT comes with four small instruction booklets which feels far less impressive and like a pretty big downgrade.
And something that has never happened in any of my previous Lego models, I was missing a pretty large and important piece. In one of the bags, there was an extra round gear-type piece and a missing large plate piece. Unfortunately this prevented me from progressing any further with the build, and even more unfortunately, the pick a part bricks were all listed as out of stock and the delivery estimate was MONTHS out. Normally, one of the biggest draws is the precision of the design and accuracy of the part selection which makes this issue seem so much more impactful. In addition to the less impressive instruction books, it seems like the Ultimate Collector Series is just getting less ultimate, especially for the price.

Terrible stability

This set is great to look at but is the worst set I have ever assembled. Extremely fragile and has minimal stability. It is more frustration than enjoyable. At the end of the day it truly felt like a waste of money to purchase this as the joy is quickly overshadowed by the frustration of pieces falling off all the time and the inherent sag the model possess. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Perfect Nostalgic Set.......Almost!

I am beyond excited that I was able to acquire this set which is a near perfect depiction of one of my most favorite OT scenes. The only small detail that I have to agree with the 1 star rating was the missed scale size snowspeeder. Why would you not include that in this memorable scene especially since you're showing Luke attached under the AT-AT. Other than that one detail I absolutely love everything else about this piece. Yes it is a little pricey but I'll be happy working those couple extra shifts when I get to come home and admire this beauty! LEGO....I'd be more than happy if you'd like to swap out the free lightsaber to instead include a scale size snowspeeder! (wink, wink)

Not a fun build

I can’t say that I enjoyed building this. Aligning multiple technic pins so that they could all “click” together into the respective holes was a very frustrating task. Every time I pushed these into place, some other part of the build would fall apart. Despite picking up the AT-AT from the base of the “belly” like instructed at the end of book 4, every single time I picked it up, some pieces from the belly would fall off and reattaching them was extremely difficult (I had to lay the whole thing on a pillow and take the “belly” apart multiple times). Very flimsy and unstable build. Did not enjoy the experience and would not recommend to a friend.

Worth It!

This is my 6th UCS Star Wars set and in my opinion the most impressive. I didn't think they would ever be able to top the Millenium Falcon but i feel they have with this set

Collected and built legos for 30 years. This may be my favorite set of all time.
