Roof is flimsy and annoying - don't buy

Had fun building this one. But once it was done and you try to play with the raising roof, it all went downhill. It would never close right. Then, pieces started coming apart. I have yet to be able to get the roof back on without a gap. ANNOYING. I actually, in frustration, made it come apart even more. It is now in a box until I have the patience to rebuild the top of it. Don't buy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I absolutely loved this set, and the final product is beautiful. The building process was more challenging than some other sets I have tried (mostly because of the moving elements), but that made it even more fun. I had no issues with assembly or pieces not fully closing as some other reviewers mentioned. The attention to detail on this set was among the best I have seen and the color is gorgeous. This may have been my favorite set to date - totally worthwhile!

Not worth the money or frustration!

I was excited for this T2 build. Sadly, the techniques used render this set unstable at best, and unbuildable at worst! The front end and roof builds are horrible. The instructions are fine, it's just the design... It's bad. The front door is held on by only one point and nothing fights right. Separately, the techniques are great. But combined, they cause you to constantly go back and fix something that breaks when building the next section. The roof is the absolute worst. I've been building LEGOs for over 40 years and this is easily the most frustrating build ever. I can't get the roof to lie flat without it coming apart! I have built and rebuilt this section at least a dozen times and it's bad. Never mind the stickers. At this price, they should have printed the logos and such like they did on the Porsche!
Bottomline, don't waste your money.

Amazing!!

I own every Creator Lego vehicles to date minus the Fiat and the Mini Cooper and I have to say this is by far the coolest Creator vehicle of them all. Not only is it very functional but it is an amazing display piece. I keep all of my Lego vehicles in my office on shelves and this one actually scored a spot on my desk since it gets asked about the most. A lot of reviews say it is a frustrating build and it falls apart easily but I have not found either of these to be true from my experience. If you are on the fence regarding purchasing this model, I am one to say go ahead and grab one before it is retired and I highly doubt you will be sorry!

Everything is amazing until you come to the roof!

My building experience was very decent until it came to the roof! The roof won't close all the way and every time I try to fix it the whole roof falls apart and it is a nightmare to fix it again. I love legos and I love to build and rebuild things. that is what I do every time in my lego city, but this experience building the roof 5x and it still won't close properly and also won't stay open is not fun building experience. The 6th time I tried to rebuild it is when I through it on the ground! I rebuild it again for the 7th time and by the way all of the pieces were okay and there were no broken pieces after I threw it on the ground. THE PIECES WOULDN'T STAY TOGETHER!!!!! That is when I just had it. I tried to fix it in place were it was still up, but like a quarter of the way and I just left it on my display table. It still looks good, but every time I look at it, it just brings me memories of the stress and frustration on building that lego set. Still to this day the roof is still not fixed because I don't want to get anymore frustrated with that lego set so i'm just going to leave the roof just the way it is. To anyone who gets frustrated when building legos or gets stressed when building legos, I would recommend skipping over buying this Lego Volkswagen T2 Camper van.

Fun product but kinda fragile

I liked the build, however there were a few areas that were kind of a pain to build. The front end would fall off when trying to build later parts, and the top was difficult to get in place.
I understand that since there's a lot of moving parts it needs to be done this way but it just seems a little fragile to me.
I would recommend this to a friend!

It's that bad

I've been building Lego as an adult for many years. This is the first build I have ever shelved with no plans to finish. Everything the other reviews mention about the construction of the front of the van are true. It is a mess. Adding new sub-assemblies caused parts to fall off. I'm familiar with the way these advanced creator builds can be finicky, but this is next level. The other VW van was not hard to build. Why this one? I guess I'll figure out something to do with the blue bricks.

VERY VERY FRAGILE

We saw this set in store and as VW fans that we are, we decided to look into it. Starting off the build felt solid until we got to the first moving parts, that is when everything fell apart.
Once we assembled most of the vehicle the last step was putting the camper roof on, we had so much trouble with this step that we ended up scrapping the original design and just making our own non-functional one. This van is the most fragile and non-stable adult lego set that we have built yet, and we even built the vespa!
Would not recommend unless they stablize and fix this set. Very nice table peice to look at though, but not to be played with.
