Had a great time building it!
on October 1, 2021
Posted by: Nan23koi
I had so much fun with all of the little details including the sliding side door. I had to rebuild the roof once, but then it fit perfectly. I think that something is off with the back door because it just falls apart so easily. I succeeded in building it, but when I touch it in the wrong spot it falls apart all over again. I also rebuilt the small door where the motor is several times and it still doesn’t open right. Maybe it is just me but it seems like something is off. I realized right away that no matter how tight you put it together that there is no way that you can really play with it. It’s too fragile to be opening and closing the doors like you would if playing with it. I am curious if I am the only one that had those problems. In the end I am happy that I bought it because I did have a blast putting it together!

Would recommend, but it has some issues
on November 2, 2021

The issues that I have found are; the bottom trunk doesn’t open easily and when it does the engine will sometimes fall apart. The front bumper is really quite flimsy, it will just fall off if you lightly touch it. There is a large crack in between the pop up tent area and the body of the van, like it isn’t able to close as much as it should to look seamless.

Worst LEGO build experience
on August 16, 2021
Posted by: MrGoub
One wrong pressure, the set falls apart. A lot of turning flipping made it so easy for the sections to give away. The build was so unenjoyable, I gave up after opening Bag 8. This has to be one of the most embarrassing sets LEGO has released to date. It’s a pity because I really loved the color of the blocks and some sections had amazing retro color combinations

Oh no! We’re sorry you’re having some difficulty keeping the set together while building. We always test and retest our toys to make sure that they’ll hold up when they’re built exactly as shown in the instructions. If your set ever seems like it's not very sturdy, the best thing to do is double-check your build. Sometimes there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be. You’ll also want to make sure that all the pieces are pressed tightly together.
If you'd like a hand troubleshooting the build, or if you find that any pieces aren't holding together as they should, feel free to give us a shout at LEGO.build/Service-BV.

Amazing Set and Experience
on September 21, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife gave me this set for our anniversary and I was very happy with it. I also have the first Lego Van model and this one was a must have. The full experience was amazing, even though the reviews are not all good, averaging 3 stars, I loved the set. I can understand that building the roof can be challenging for some less experienced builders - the whole mechanism could be simplified. It still works perfectly for me. I also like the steering mechanism. However, it takes some space from the driver and passenger. This was a fun build from bag 1 to 11!

Beautiful set, inside and out

What a great set! I love the colors, the many many details inside, the ability to steer with the steering wheel OR the spare wheel on the front, and the doors. Makes for an eye-catching display on the shelf, and/or a fun play experience.

Keep you Blood Pressure meds handy

This is a good looking lego once complete, however if you can get it finished and in one piece, super glue it and never touch it again. If you look at it wrong something will fall off and the design is so flimsy it will take you four hours and three anxiety attacks to put it back together. I am in the latter half of my 30s and have built legos my whole life. This set made me question if i would ever buy another lego. My lego time is for relaxing, following instructions, doing something with my hands and having a pretty finished product. This was the OPPOSITE of relaxing, i think i sank half a months worth of Clonazepam into this build. The front end is barely capable of staying together and on the van. It took myself and my equally advanced partner several hours of taking turns as our patience depleted to get it put together (mind you I am a visual artist who works with his hands making tedious tiny detailed things all day. The entire back door is held into place by literally two dots of contact, the roof does not open or close properly, the on time i tried to open it, the needlessly complex, ill fitting roof mechanism would not return to its place before taking out the aforementioned poorly designed back door with it, causing several hours of rebuilding a very simple (15-20 pieces) door that simply cannot support its own weight. the design is abysmally flimsy and whole parts of the vehicle will crumble in your hands over and over again if you are not a neurosurgeon (and probably even if you are) i was trying to pack it up to move and so many parts fell off and refused to go back together that the whole thing almost got tossed across the room. It is now just sitting in several pieces in a box, in the hopes that after i move i will be in a place where i somehow have the patience of mother Theresa to put it back together. I like the advanced sets, i like a challenge, this set is a torture device. If it was not a matter of immense personal pride and slight psychosis re: finishing things, i wiuld 100% return this, and demand they find someone to prescribe a replacement for my anxiety meds. I have never, in almost four decades of life, encountered another set this truly outraging. Im not sharing photos because they would either be a grown man sobbing or something truly nsfw.

Don't Believe the Reviews, this T2 IS Worth It!
on September 12, 2021

OK folks, let me start off this review by stating I do not understand all these negative reviews. Apparently a lot of "expert" adult builders cannot seem to put this set together, especially after bag #9. Well, I AM an Expert Builder and I have ZERO, nada, 0, nil issues building this model and I did not find it flimsy or shoddy or put together incorrectly. Yes, it is a different build dynamic than the T1, but that is what makes this fun. Building a body of a van without stacking bricks on top of each other in a different manner is pure genious. To all those that gave this set a 1 star or 2 star rating, please slow down and follow the directions or perhaps do not buy Lego sets rated above 12YO skill level as that can be the ONLY reasons for all these issues.
With that said, there are two improvements that Lego could have made which would have put this set to a 5 star rating; 1) the 1/4" gap between the pop up roof and the orange curtain. Extra pieces could have been added to the set to close this off more. I have closed this area off and shown it in the pics on this review. And 2) Adding small attachment points for the surf board to ride on top of the roof. All these "extras" would made the set out of the world!
To all the nae-sayers on this matter, I suggest they look at the Lego instruction manual as it clearly shows this gap on the completed model. So expecting that your build somehow be different would be silly.
Additionally, I had no issues with the sliding door being flimsy, loose, or poorly constructed. I have attached pics to show all the doors open.
Enjoy the ride.....dudes!

NOT WORTH IT
on September 19, 2021

This is truly one of the worst builds I’ve ever had to work with. NOTHING stays together. You go to add the next steps and something falls off. Or in this case, multiple things fall off. The roof assembly in general is a train wreck. Not to mention, lego, your quality control is lacking. I had two of the phases just open and freely hanging out in the bottom of the box. Missing pieces (of course), and some warped pieces too. Thank god for having spare parts on hand. Never in my life has a hobby made me want to drink. None of my other builds did, but this one… this one tipped the bottle.
