A must for the collector

I was hesitant on spending the money for this set, but after the build and display, I’m glad I did. If you can afford it, this is a great set for the collector, I wouldn’t call it one to play with. I wish they would have been able to incorporate some Harry, Hermione and Ron mini figs somehow. I feel there was a step missed as well in printing for the chocolate frog, around steps 11,12, and 13. There are a couple of piece #6218366 that show around step 13 that I didn’t see in an earlier step, different from those shown in step 11. Am I a winner? ;-)

We're happy you had a magical time building! The pieces you're seeing on step 13 are added on that step to make the jaw of the frog. Ribbit!

Frustrating

I found this to be a very frustrating build. While the end build is stable, there were a few times putting this together that it collapsed and I had to go back a few steps and rebuild. There were also a few times where the instructions were unclear and I had to find help through outside sources like blogs.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I don’t know how this has so many stars

This kit is so hinky and unstable! The base is basically attached at two points on each corner. Every time I move the model it broke on me. I got all the way to bag 16 of 22 and it completely collapsed on me. I literally had to take it all the way down so I could fix it. When I build it back I will (gasp!) glue it because it isn’t stable by itself. I can’t believe Lego put out such an unstable build.
The details and build techniques are pretty cool, which is why this got two stars instead of one.
Lego I know you can do better! Between my husband and myself we have over 100 kits and have never had such an experience!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I haven’t built the set yet because I’m in the middle of a move, but I’m super excited for it. I do believe it to be a bit overpriced, but looks to be a pretty good product.

Great centerpiece

This was my 9th large Lego kit build and has become probably my favorite. The 3 books are extremely realistic and Hedwig is the most impressive of any Lego design to date. Of course there is a low “play” experience rating, but it easily becomes the centerpiece of any collection.
I would recommend this to a friend!
