Minifigs sized? I don't think so...

OK all, let me start off this review by saying yes, I am a huge Star Wars fan. And yes, I voted for this ship design back in the day. And I do like the execution of it. However, all these things aside, there are some real world issues that can be addressed nicely.
1) I love how people can review this Lego set before it was shipped out. 12:01AM on 8/1/2021 and BAMM instant reviews that have no content and based purely on speculation. Nice.
2) Step #84 completes the lime green sections of the front nose structure. Sadly, the way these vertical green elements are placed naturally want to pull AWAY from each other creating an unsightly gap in the very front of the ship. See the attached pics. I dare say to close this gap, one needs to glue the sections together and clamp them shut. Bad idea.
3) OK, we will get this off the plate, not sure why people are complaining about not getting a ton of mini-figs on this build. Has anyone noticed that this ship is NOT mini-fig scale so it would look useless to load the troop bay with small clone troopers that are mini-fig size. Instead, what would have made more sense and been a step in a new direction is to create mini Legoland sized figures. I created a few and the scale is nearly spot on.
4) I would like to "dress down" this LAAT with older looking parts or a different paint scheme other than lime green and cranberry red. Sadly, the parts used in this model are too new or not available in another color brick.

Great Set

The gunship itself is breathtaking. I find myself just looking at it (I just finished building it) and admiring the detail and the sheer size of it.
That said, one of my stickers broke while removing it from the paper and I had to try to realign the pieces together. Luckily it's not on the side that is on display.
I totally understand that the UCS sets are for the builds and not the minifigures, but it would be nice to have more Phase 1 clones to round out the set.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This set is overall fantastic. The final build is very sturdy and is able to be picked up and moved easily without the worry of breaking it. I also really enjoy the two minifigures that come with the set, both look great close up and while on the stand next to the ship. The new printed canopy pieces are also very nice additions to the set and really help to highlight the different transparent parts of the ship. As great as this ship looks and feels however there are a few things that could have really knocked it out of the park as an overall building experience. Firstly the instruction manual appeared as if it had come used, although this isn't a huge deal for the overall set, I would have liked it looking excellent right out of the box for the whole experience to be perfect. Secondly I found there to be too many stickers and that they were too large of stickers. Although UCS sets do come with stickers, I wish they would lower the total count, or get rid of stickers all together for these larger sets, similar to what they have done with the creator expert modular buildings. Overall I would give this set a 9.5 out of 10, and recommend it to any Lego Star Wars fan.

Great Set, poor execution

The build is excellent and everything is of great quality. Though the execution of the advertisement was extremely poor. With the misprint on the box, to the designers making comments to things as if the fans are dumb just doesn’t sit right with me.

Great UCS Set

I had just finished the UCS Millenium Falcon and was looking to getting another UCS set to compliment it. I picked up the gunship at a nice discount and after finishing it, I love it.
The build itself was relatively straightforward with a technic structure to basically hold all the pieces together. In terms of scale, this thing is massive, and I love it! Sure it’s a bit hard to display, but I’ll figure it out.
The final build itself is strong and sturdy, it’s almost as sturdy as a minifig scale model, which is again fairly impressive given its size. This is in contrast to the Falcon, where I had massive problems transporting it to my upstairs office.
There are two small negative parts of the gunship. The first is there is no interior whatsoever. With the side doors being open, it looks a bit incomplete. The second is that I wish the rear hatch was more detailed.
I see in other reviews about minifigs, and if that is your thing then maybe there is a bit of disappointment. For me, I’m buying sets for display in my office and it does not disappoint.
I had one missing piece in the end, but does not affect the display itself.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The build is immaculate. This thing is massive, and beautiful. Worth every penny. The only criticisms is that the figures are a little disappointing, but in a set like this, figures are not the draw. LEGO nailed it with this build, and although a clone pilot would have been nice, the clone trooper is cool, and mace windu is a nice addition.

Minifigures suck

The build was very fun and I enjoyed all the big parts and seeing it come together. But like everyone is saying the minifigures sucked, and it’s dumb that LEGO asked fans what they wanted and didn’t deliver. Hope to see better results in the future. Overall a great build though, would definitely recommend it to any LEGO fans.
