Buyer beware

I don’t often feel the need to review lego but this build is the exception. Whomever designed this built shouldn’t design again. Sorry brutal but true. This is the most Unstable, delicate, lego I’ve ever seen. Anytime you’d move to the next step and need to shift the ship a piece would break off. Not to mention certain steps are incredibly hard to attach pieces too. This was my 10 yr olds first large lego buy and he is beyond disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I had placed some bricks misaligned and noticed when it was time to attach a wing. That had me almost rebuilding the whole upper back end.

UCS means Ultimate Cruddiest Set

I have been a LEGO fan my entire life, and I have always loved the Star Wars line, especially anything involving the prequels or the Clone Wars, so when this was announced, I was excited. It took me a while to save up, but when the opportunity came to buy it, I took it. And, this is the first time I ever feel a review is warranted for a set.
This is my first UCS build, but I have been building other expert-level sets for a while. I have years of set-building experience. But, I am not exaggerating here, this was the absolute WORST set I have ever built. Actually, I can't even finish it, every time I try to finish it, I put one part on, and another pops off.
This is, without a doubt, the worst-designed set I have ever had the misfortune of purchasing. It is over-engineered, relying on a very thin, very fragile skeletal structure, and way too many angles and technic pieces. It was extremely fragile to build, every time I put a part down, the whole thing shook or slid. Nothing would stay together. I couldn't finish it, because the doors would always come off (no reinforcements) the main body would start falling apart at the slightest pressure, and you would need three hands in order to hold the thing so you could put pieces on. It was back-heavy, and fell over just by looking at it.
If I could get my money back, I would! This was a miserable LEGO building experience, and I expect better from this company!

Needs glue

The Gunship is one of my favorite SW vehicles. It was totally disappointing how fragile this kit is. I moved it, it fell apart. I rebuilt it. Moved it and it fell apart again. When I rebuild the next time, I'm using glue on the weak points. The major stress area is the entire base.

Imposing but flimsy in places

I've always loved the art design of the gunship in the movies. The previous LEGO models were actually fun to build and held together really well. In attempting to realise a UCS version, however, it seems that the design was either rushed or forced.
The entire model feels somewhat flimsy, once completed. Specifically, the side panels are held on by a single connecting element and an awkward move or swipe can cause the panel to detach. The triangular front and back cover panels under the wings are extremely difficult to properly attach without breaking off portions of the assembly. It required some ingenuity and breaking away from the build instructions to effectively install them. In the end, among SW UCS models this ranks as average. Maybe it's difficult to create a workable design of this ship on this scale. It's still worth having for SW fans.

Great build ok mini figures

I had lots of fun building this set. I enjoyed all of the movable parts like doors, turrets, and missiles. The mini figures are ok for the set but, I would have liked to have seen Commander Cody or Captain Rex.

Great UCS but has many flaws

I purchased the gunship the minute it got released. I built it in about 8 hours took a lot longer than I planned thus being many weak points in the build. The main weak points I’ve noticed were the rear end gate and the side panels. It’s been very frustrating to have to try and fix multiple times. Nevertheless this set is great to buy but it’s fragile.
I would recommend this to a friend!
