Biggest, Most Gorgeous Set I Own!!

Long have I waited...
And now the UCS Republic Gunship is finally here! I ordered it the day after it went live and spent about 8 or 9 hours putting it all together. One of the most fun builds I've ever done. My only real gripe was the angled panels under the wings, where you need to bend the hinge pieces at just the right angle to stick them on since you can't actually see where you're putting it. Other than that, it's virtually perfect. And huge. And heavy. Barely fits on the top shelf of my desk.
Also I'm not sure why people (particularly AFOLs) are so upset about the figures or the box. UCS sets aren't about figures at all, and if your main gripe about this set is the figure selection, it's time to readjust your expectations because UCS figures have never been that rare or that impressive. The point of UCS sets is the model itself. As for the box misprint, it's just cardboard. It's not that big a deal.

bought son this bock build set and he did look that figure not able to enter the build nbclock set and did not gets refunds for this build blocks sets, and figure have dirt on it, clean build sers beforemakign it

Son Dead (almost)

My son who took a liking to star wars at the age of seven favors the clone wars over any other star wars content. He asked for this set for his birthday and me and my husband got it for him. When he opened it, he showed me and my husband how far he made it in one day, so then the next day, he went to finish it when he noticed that a lego stabbed him in the thumb. He is only 7, so he is not smart enough to know that sucking your thumb is not the best idea. He sucked it and a little stud got stuck in his throat. I was not there when it happened, all we know is that the doctors removed a square block with 4 circles. My son could have died! It was a miracle he started crying otherwise me and my husband may not have heard him.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This ship is fantastic. The build is great fun and just endlessly fascinating on how the design team engineered the Gunship. Don't listen to the whiners. Who cares about the minifigs. The Gunship is the true star of the show, as it should be. Don't hesitate to pick up this huge showstopper of a display piece. I can't recommend it enough.

Missing parts

I bought this yesterday at the Mall of America and I opened the very first bag and there is missing parts and I'm very upset, and I would like to have those missing parts like now or I'll never buy a another lego set at all.

Massive set, but worst-ever build experience

We build a lot of big Lego sets in our home. If all or even occasional Lego sets were of the quality of this one, there would be at least 2 fewer AFOL’s in the world. The set simply has far too many insecure connections for its complexity - leaving recurrent sections falling off, or not adequately connecting in the first place. Given it’s heft and awkward placements of such sections, this means awkward, frustrating, and nearly impossible efforts to rebuild those sections. AFter dozens of such efforts, we actually decided it was too aggravating and simply gave up. I’ve spent more for some sets, less for others, but never had such a low-value experience. Really hope this doesn’t become a trend, or we’ll find other hobbies.

Elaborate Design, Poor Construct

Was looking forward to purchasing this set for some time. Grew up with both predecessors that were fun to build and play with. This design, while elaborate and challenge does not hold up very well under any sort of stress. The top half is too heavy for the internal columns to hold without some sort of additional support. Would not recommend sadly.
