This chipper does everything as advertised. I have already trimmed some of my trees with my electric chain saw, also from Sun Joe and then used my chipper. Both work great.
The CJ601E Electric Wood Chipper Is great for my yards and garden. The property is relatively small, less than a quarter acre, and the chipper is great at handling the trimmings from my trees and shrubs.
Bundling branches and putting them on the curb, or trying to put the stuff in yard waste bags. I am a fairly new home owner. and we live next door to a rental property. ANYWAY, they have these horrible overgrown bush tree things covered in vines on the property line, needless to say the law states I can only cut whatever is on my side. WELL, I'm usually on a ladder 3 times a year to cut the growth, its covered in vines, thorns, etc. These vines reach over to my roof if I don't cut them back this often. I was cutting them, trying to bundle to put out with the yard waste (this would take days), we would put a huge pile of it in the corner of the yard wait for it to dry and put it in the fire pit (eyesore in the yard though!). NOW, this has made yard cleanup fun! One of us chops it down, and the other feeds the wood chipper, and now I don't have to buy mulch for the beds! I actually like doing the work alone because its fun and rewarding seeing the outcome, but often my husband insists on helping. This past weekend we needed to cut down an overgrown rotting apple tree, this handled the branches amazingly (up to the size it suggests) our yard was covered in branches (40' tall tree) and we cleaned them all up with this in just a few hours, and filled my front flower beds with amazing mulch as we go! A few suggestions: fresh wood is a lot kinder on the hands to chop up, it does dry wood but on a womans small hands like mine, it really can get rough with dry wood. Go to the hardware store and get a huge concrete mixing tub and set it up under the lower opening while mulching, this makes cleanup extra easy, and then when its full you just lift and dump exactly where you want it and you don't have to worry about stray wood mulch all over the yard.
I have been trimming a lot of trees in our yard and was tired of cramming branches into yard bags to send to the dump. This chipper allows me to chip everything smaller than 1 inch in diameter, including leaves and pine needles. Next spring, I'll mix this mulch with the soil and grow vegetables.
