Easy to set up and user friendly. Very good in chipping the trimmings from my peach and plum tree. Its more economical than buying mulch from big bag store.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a lot of branches in my backyard. Bought this to clean it up, instead of waiting for removal. This worked flawless and use the mulch for my beds. Great product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This works best with green limbs and it doesn't miss a beat chewing them up. This is for a homeowner to use and makes a very desireable mulch

Basic Chipper
on May 7, 2020

I like the chipper. It doesn't do large branches but it's very good in cleaning up the smaller ones. Here's the caveat. I decided to flip the blades, which I expected would be a fairly simple job. The problem is the allen screws holding the chipper blades are torqued down so tight that it is virtually impossible to get them to move even a little bit. I ruined the allen wrench trying to get them off. I used an Allen Socket and long socket wrench, figuring I just needed some leverage. The screws wouldn't budge. I removed the whole blade assembly, soaked the whole thing in WD40 overnight and tried again. Screws wouldn't budge. I finally put vice grip pliers on the screw end from the back. Two of the allen screws moved and I was able to take them out with the allen wrench. The other two took me over an hour and I ruined the allen screws just getting them out. I now am in the process of going to the hardware stores in search to the allen screws that fit.
Changing the blades shouldn't be that hard, and certainly shouldn't be nearly impossible.
I would not buy again. Hopefully Sun Joe won't censure the bad reviews. I have other Sun Joe products I am happy with. Just not the chipper.

OK, but more effort than expected

I was hoping this would be more powerful and efficient than it is. It did chop up the material as advertised once you spent a lot of time manually cutting off almost all lateral stems. I understood it was for small branches, but did not expect to have to cut off almost all side growth no matter how small they were to get it to feed into the chute. Not sure it was worth the effort.

Love this wood chipper

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is such a great wood chipper. We have so many trees along our fence line and this has definitely come in handy to create a mulch. It was very easy and took no time to assemble and get started. The machine isn’t loud either so that’s a plus! Overall, I’m very happy with this!

Great for small stuff

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product was super quick and easy to assemble. I used it to take care of some stuff in our backyard. It is simple to use and in my opinion very safe due to the restrictive holes for placing your brush. It did not do real well with bendable viney type brush but everything else it just ate up.

I have to say, I don't write reviews too often, but when I do it's either a product that does what it's rated to do, or it's not worth it/junk. This shredder does what it's rated to do; mulch up to 2" thick branches dry or green, although most of the time I try to stick with smaller than 2" branches. The directions say shred fresh with dry pieces in between. Mulch consists of small chips. Small branches, spent raspberry brambles, etc., no problem. Have only used it twice for about an hour straight each time. Not nearly as noisy as the big gas powered ones. So, we'll see how long it lasts, but hey, for the price, so far, it was worth buying it!
Pros: Great Value, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Easy to assemble
I would recommend this to a friend!
