1/2 acre yard with some trees, mostly lawn. Own yard work for 44 yrs. First twenty minutes it jammed 15 times with 1 inch or less diam. Then started smoking slightly, so I shut it down for about 20 mins. Chipped another small branch and started to chip a seconds when the engine smoked briefly and then burst into flames. I rapidly unplugged it and put what was left of the engine fire out with a garden hose. Called Sun Joe and they offered to replace it. I told them it was inadequate and they agreed to have it shipped back to them for reimbursement.s.
Does well on twigs and small branches but you have to feed them a few at a time. Forget trying to shred leaves- the hole is too small. This is a chipper only!
First one lasted five years. Second one ate itself on second use (first use was maybe three hours). Replacement almost ate itself before I discovered the flywheel bolt was lose. Tightened it. Is running fine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine does well with 1.5" diameter sticks. Anything larger jams the machine. Twigs that are small tend to just barely chop and end up as small 3"-5" sticks in the bucket. Wear eye protection because some debris made its way back up at my face. Burning your sticks would be faster but if you can't do that, this will work. If your time is valuable, this process takes too long. Machine is not ad loud as a typical lawn mower. I wore earbuds anyway.

I have a huge pile of branches that a unprofessional tree service left in my yard. This chipper is great for the price!!!
Pros: Tougher Than It Looks, Very Easy To Clear A Jam, Easy To Use
Needed to find a way to dispose of the branches trimmed from a 400 foot hedge. This would fill dozens of large trash containers. As the branches are less than 2 inches in diameter, the specifications of the chipper seemed perfect for my needs. I trimmed the branches and let them dry for a week. This chipper quickly reduced these branches to fine mulch. Noise levels were much lower than the chippers my neighbors use in their yards. The compact, light design allows me to store the chipper on a large hook on the garage wall.
