Though a gas powered one with a large mouth feed chute would have been nice, the cost was more than I could afford for occasional use. So I tried this electric one. It takes a smaller amount at a time but wow, does it chew it up!
I am going to recommend it for small jobs on occassional use.

I've had full size wood chippers with full size prices that worked very good. this little guy works very hard for it's size. jams caused by putting in wood too big are cleared very easy. if your main job is chipping all the branches that fall after wind , rain or snow, this machine is perfect.

For price and performance you can’t go wrong with this chipper. Perfect for households where mulching branches is an occasional thing and the idea of reducing volume to a meagre 1/16th is beneficial. We culled dead thick branches from a back hedge about 100 feet wide and 10 feet high and the Sun Joe cut the job time in half because chipping was so much easier than cutting and wrapping the green waste the way our local curb pick up requires. The mulch was then easily added to a side garden and green waste bags.
Set up was easy, less than half an hour to get going and we found the Sun Joe easily up to the task of crunching everything we put through it, even thinner branches with leaves, so long as you alternate with thicker, stiffer branches to help push things through.
The machine is easy to move from spot to spot with the wheels and pull handle. If you can pull or push a golf cart it’s much like that. We happened to have a perfectly size bucket that fit under the discharge chute so that depositing mulch elsewhere was easy.
If you’re someone who routinely is looking for ways to manage yard debris, the Sun Joe is the perfect tool to add to your garden arsenal. We’re so glad we went ahead and got ours. It made our hedge project doable and I’ll be more diligent with my trimming going forward knowing the Sun Joe has me covered.

This works better than expected. It makes fast work of all the small limbs trimmed or fallen from my trees and shrubs. Converts them into a nice chip mulch. You can't force limbs through too fast or you may jam the unit and of course you can't put a 2 or 3 inch branch into it but it works very well for it's intended use of limbs up to about 1.7 inch diameter.

In Chicago, like a lot of big cities, it is hard to get rid of fallen limbs. This wood chipper makes that job easier. This is especially true of messy trees that are always dropping limbs like the Sycamore.
