Great pump but some annoying features

Pump works great if it’s charged. Biggest frustration is the display. It’s hard to tell what percentage the battery is at when you have the pump turned on. So it’s extremely frustrating when you are in the middle of a pumping session and the pump dies. Then you have no clue how long you have been pumping for because it starts over.....
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Teesa--- We're sorry to hear that you are having a hard time seeing the battery indicator on your pump screen. Sonata’s display is best visible within indoor home or work environments. Pumping in direct sunlight or extreme low light may impact the display brightness and legibility. If you are pumping in either of these environments we recommended you use the Pumping Screen, on the MyMedela® app, to assist in reading your current breast pump session settings, battery and time. Love this pump!

I bought this pump in 2019 with my first born. Used it while he was in the NICU then after we brought him home. It is amazing and so close to the hospital grade pumps. I’m excited to get replacement tubing for it and use for my second babe due at the end of the year!

Great pump

This is my second Medela pump. I was very excited to get this pump after having my second baby. I work 12 hour shifts and have to pump quickly because of my job. I get a great amount in just 10 minutes. I had some issues with this pump but after calling costumer service Lucy Salas was extremely helpful and made it a breeze to fix. The only down side is the replacement tubing is not available for sale. The only way to get one is to buy the kit which is a complete waste since I only need tubing.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not a pump I prefer

Overall the pump is not bad but there are some things that would deter me away from this style. There are more parts to clean And replace. I also feel that the suction was not as strong as my other style.
I didn’t like that I couldn’t see my flow very well. All the parts it has makes it difficult to see.
Some positives to this pump it was that it is a lot quieter and gets the job done quickly. It’s nice that there’s an application associated with it too.

Best pump I've tried so far!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This pump is seriously amazing! I'm exclusively pumping for the second time, and I've tried a ton of pumps. Prior to getting the Sonata I was using a Medela Symphony primarily and a battery operated pump from a different brand for travel and car pumping. My supply has been hard won and difficult to maintain, but I'm to the point where I trust the Sonata to maintain my supply as my primary pump which is going to save me about $64 a month.
The suction is fantastic on this pump, and I find it more comfortable than other pumps that I've tried. Comfort for me means higher output, which means I can donate to a milk bank now! It's really meaningful to me after being an under supplier with my first baby. This pump is quiet enough that I can pump next to a sleeping baby or husband and not disturb them. The noise isn't grating like some pumps I've tried.
I have so many parts for the Symphony that I was pretty bummed that the Sonata uses different ones, but I'm convinced that having more pieces gets them all cleaner because there are fewer nooks and crannies. Bonus: no more of those flappy valves that I can't stand! Car pumping feels way more discreet with the Sonata than the enormous battery pump setup. The battery gets me through 3-4 thirty minute pumping sessions between charges and it charges very quickly.
The app worked great for me. The fact that it connects with the pump is so so so awesome. I wish there was a way to import the first five months of data from the app I started with because I'm a total data nerd.
I'm so thankful to the weeSpring Parent Panel for giving me the opportunity to try this fantastic pump!

Great pump!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you to weeSpring Parent Panel for allowing me to try and review the Medela Sonata Breast Pump. For my previous two babies, I used the Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump and loved it so I was excited to try this one. The features I love the most are its quietness, the rechargeable battery, and the touch screen. I also like that there is only one tube that links the pump to the bottles, which seems to balance the suction better than my previous pump. There is also a clock on the screen which is very helpful! Thank you again to weeSpring Parent Panel!

I received the Medela sonata breast pump through the weespring parent panel and boy was I excited! I had been using another pump with far less features and was super excited to try the Medela one. I honestly had no clue how poorly my other pump worked until I felt how great the Medela one pumped! Super strong and efficient but also comfortable and soothing. Love the different settings and levels super easy to clean and take to and from work! Love how quiet it is and being able to track directly on my phone!!! A+
