I wanted to love it

I was so excited to receive the Medela Sonata for free as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. I loved the connection with the MyMedela app, and used it daily to keep track of my pumping output- it syncs via bluetooth to the app. It was really cool to see how much I was making daily, and not having to enter things in manually. The pump was fairly quiet to other pumps that I have used, and I was able to use it no problem. I really wanted to love this pump, however my output with it was just terrible. I typically respond very well to pumps, and with my other non-Medela pumps, I make a LOT. With the Sonata, I made less than half at the same time, with the same variables. I also didn't love the pump parts and found them harder to deal with and wash.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Holy grail!

I thought I had my holy grail when I was using the lansinoh but I finally decided to upgrade and buy the Sonata was smart breast pump and I have been pumping ten times more milk and in less time! The suction on this pump is amazing and it doesn’t wake my baby up! And I can actually charge it and bring it with me! And the parts are easier to clean, this pump might be a bit expensive but trust me ladies you will not regret this pump! It will be your life saver!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Sonata doesn’t hold charge

I purchased the Sonata breast pump 6 months ago directly from the hospital, started using it 5 months ago and now it no longer holds a charge and at times if it isn’t plugged in it won’t even turn on. I bought this pump because I thought the wireless feature was going to be helpful. The Bluetooth feature is hit & miss, sometimes it records my session and other times I’ll check my app later and see that I have to do a manual entry because my last session didn’t save for some reason. It’s unfortunate because this pump is pretty expensive and has cool features if they actually worked properly. I’m highly disappointed.

We're sorry for any trouble this has caused. A hard reset of the breast pump can often times resolve this. You'll want to ensure that you have the breast pump plugged into the wall outlet and turned on. You can then press and hold the power button on the back of the pump for 30 seconds. You’ll notice that the display will start to flash and will then go through a pattern where it will turn off and flash and turn back off. Continue to hold the power button until it reaches the 30 seconds. Once that is complete, charge the breast pump for a full 12 hours uninterrupted. Medela does not hold charge ! Do not buy!

I bought the Sonata yo complement DL for my second LO born in May. The pump worked great for the first 7 months. Right around Christmas, the battery refused to hold charge. Each charge would only lasts for about 39 mins pump. 2-3 weeks in now and each charge will only hold for 5-10 mins of pumping session. This is completely unacceptable considering the price of the Sonata! I travel a lot so this pump has become a hindrance and it’s really interfering with my pumping schedule because I can now only pump when I am near a socket point!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love this pump!

I recently gave birth to y second child. With the first child I was able to pump once I returned to work using the Medela pump in style. It worked perfectly for the time that I used it. The second go around I decided to try a different style and went with the Sonata. I thought about it a long time before pulling the trigger on such an expensive item, but I am so glad I did. It is so quiet and luxurious...I had no idea what I was missing. The portability is also so very handy. I have been back to work one week and I am super happy with the purchase. I have not really used the smartphone function yet. Also I was able to purchase this pump as an “upgrade” since my insurance did not cover the entire amount of this model. The remaining balance I was able to take care of with my health savings account. I do agree with the previous review about the bag. I actually really like the bag it comes with, but I am not able to fit the assembled pump parts in with the pump and cooler.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Don’t waste your money

The suction stops working well after a few months. I can put it on the highest setting and nothing happens. All parts have been replaced. Used to be quiet now it’s loud. Researched everything that can be done and nothing fixes the issue. Will work well one session and then the next stop. I would not recommend unless you like carrying around two pumps so you have a back up for when your sonata fails.
