Hate this pump, old pump works better

I am a Medela fan and am so disappointed by this pump. I previously started with the pump in style advanced. I still have the pump from 2019, used it at least 3 times a day for 4 months straight and it still out-performs this new pump and parts.
First, the pump sounds annoying. I get that all pumps make noise but this one you have to pull out of the bag, put on the table since the power cable plugs into the side and not the top along with the tubing. So it’s “out in the open” making it noisier than my other pump that can stay in the bag.
Second, I do not like the design of the new connectors. The grey part is completely excess, just to look more stylist even though I’m completely alone when pumping… who am I looking good for?! Since the grey part extends down the bottle more, it takes up more space in my pumping bag and it’s hard to see milk dripping to tell when I’m done, especially hard when the bottle is 4oz full. This leads to another issue: one side produces more for me so I used to be able to swap the bottles mid pumping. The previous valve design kept the milk in the valve and centered within the bottle openings. This new design, milk is all over inside the connectors. So not only can I no longer swap bottle without making a mess but there is also milk left inside that gets wasted. Thought every drop matters Medela? I also miss the clear plastic because I could better see the milk expressed, how much is getting expressed with each pulse and how my nipples were centered during pumping. The white plastic blocks any view of these details that helped make pumping more effective. All for style/looks. Nothing about efficiency has been improved.
Third, I also feel this pump is less effective than my old pump. It isn’t as strong. I feel like the milk expressed is more watery, that less fat content is pulled out. I just pumped with this pump and then switched to my old pump and got another ounce! I’ve done all the tricks and checks to make sure it’s set up right and this thing was such a waste of money.
And of course, it’s a medical device so I’m stuck with it.

Broke after 3 months

Definitely not as strong as the older versions, this model just gave up and quit after three months. As with other reviews I recommend you forego this pump in favor of one that might work. Very disappointing experience.

The old model was more efficient

I prefer the older model. Much more efficient and I didn’t have to pump as long.

Great pump!

Got this when I had my baby she was premature and I suggested it to all my mom friends first time mom easy to use and like that it is same brand as hospital pump used it while baby was in the NICU and learning to latch and after for around three months to increase and establish my supply.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not pleased

I got my pump through insurance just started used it a month ago. And from me using it multiple times a day the pump is already not working. It used to work great pulled milk out better than any other pump but now all it does is vibrate really loud and doesn’t pull anything out.

Great pump for occasional pumping

This is a great small, simple to use pump. The parts are easy to clean. I have not tried taking it out, but plan to use this at work. I do have to pump for 45 minutes to feel completely empty. The pump is loud and after using it for 45 minutes the pump motor sounds like it might break. I pump 5-6 times a day. I just ordered the Sonata and will use the PIS for travel.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bad suction

This pump does not work well. My breasts were still extremely full after pumping and barely got any milk.

I rarely give a review but I felt compelled to share my experience and prevent someone from making the same mistake I did.
I received this pump with my insurance. I loved my old medela pump in style advanced so I thought I’d love this one too. It does not compare to the old model at all! First, there is no dial like the old one so it is hard to tell how strong the suction is. Next, it is SO LOUD and it shakes really loud, third the suction is not as strong as the old one even at the max. Fourth- The suction is uneven and I get a bigger/ stronger output one side. I thought my model was defective so I contacted medela and the wonderful customer service gave me a new one. My second one does the same! So I got a third one, medela must not be this bad I thought. Well, it is, my third one does the same! I am very worried about my supply with the suction being so terrible. I get more of an output with my cheap hands free pump than this one. Do not get this new medela pump in style. You will regret it. I do because I can’t get a different pump now and have to spend money on a new one for when I go back to work so my supply doesn’t dip. This pump has caused me a great deal of stress about being able to feed my child. I would give it zero stars if I could. Do better Medela!
