Small & Efficient - Great Pump!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This modern pump is effective, quiet, and conveniently small. As an exclusive-pumper for twins, I tried a variety of brands and types. Honestly, the first time I used it I got emotional as the suckling setting feels so authentically like a suckling newborn!
Pros:
• Beautiful packaging opens to images of parents & babies that gives the warm fuzzies
• Suckling setting truly feels like baby’s suckle
• The pump is lightweight, super quiet, and impressively compact
• Pump pulls milk effectively and efficiently for maximum production
• BACKFLOW design – yay!! This is my single favorite thing about this pump. I produce a lot of milk quickly. This has been a major issue for me with other pumps that would suck the milk into the tubes (and I would have to frequently sterilize or replace them). The backflow piece saves any milk from being wasted or pump parts needing extra cleaning.
• Less pump parts than other pumps (no little flange)
• Dishwasher safe! Always a major plus
• Love the y-shaped, single cord that is used for pumping whether you are double or single pumping
• The breast shields have soft, silicone edges that contour to the breast. They’re far more comfortable than the average hard-edged ones
• Small size + battery pack (batteries not included) makes pumping on-the-go easy
• Comes with a fridge bag, spare bottles/lids, and ice pack that forms to bottle shapes. An extra perk for those who will be pumping at work or while out and about.
• Comes with a nicely sized (but not overly large) and fashionable bag
• The pump doesn’t shut off automatically at 30 minutes: nice for those times you want to mindlessly pump for a long time

Cons:
• Although the breast shields are comfortable, the soft edges make it easy to drip off little bits of milk at the end of a session – these are easier to catch with the hard edged kind. However, if this is a major issue for you, I believe you could attach the earlier design of Medela shields that have the hard edge.
• It takes a long time for the milk to gradually drip into the bottles once you’re done pumping. If you twist the pump parts off right away, a considerable amount of milk will leak out of them. Of course, any wasted milk is super disappointing! I recommend finishing your pumping session then waiting several minutes before untwisting the pump parts from the bottle.
• I wish Medela would design larger bottles that fit this and other pumps for those with heavy milk production
• A light would be nice for late-night pumping sessions, although the raised buttons make it easier to tell which is which
• The pump doesn’t remember your last pump setting (as in suction strength) or have a timer on it. At first, this annoyed me, but then I found it forced me to be more intuitive with my pumping. Instead of focusing on the number setting or how long I’d pumped for, I’d ask things like “do my breasts feel empty yet?” or “am I comfortable?”
• Although the breast shields are comfortable, the soft edges make it easy to drip off little bits of milk at the end of a session – these are easier to catch with the hard edged kind. The cons were a minor nuisance, but not enough to affect my scoring of this product: the pros far outweighed them. I recommend this to any expectant parents looking for a compact, hospital-grade breast pump.

easy, quiet, comfortable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm not a huge fan of electric/battery breast pumps in general (manual works so well for me that I find anything more complicated cumbersome, because, why mess with a good thing?), but I was given this breast pump as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel and gave it a try!
You all, this is a FANTASTIC pump! Easy to assemble, easy to use, not overly loud, comfortable, easy to clean, easy to store .... so many things to enjoy!
The kit has ALL the things you need to get started, including an ice pack and insulated cooler for pumping while away. (not to mention the adorable carry bag)
The (surprisingly small! And kind of cute) pump's pre-programmed settings are easy to use, but also easy to adjust while using as needed (I like a higher setting, and finding my comfort level for speed/etc. was super simple).
If I was going to love an electric breast pump, this would be it!

I ❤️LOVE this pump!!! It’s super compact and lightweight, which makes it really easy to take to and from places like my job. I had a Spectra pump and found that this one was so much more comfortable on my nipples and didn’t take as long to pump with and got much more milk out of my breast. Having this pump has really been a lifesaver with being a working mom and having to take to work with me. It’s fast, easy, comfortable, and gives you so much milk. I had the older model with my last baby as well! Love this brand!
The shields are comfortable, easy to take apart and wash, suction is strong but not tugging on your nipples so it doesn’t hurt, it’s the best reliable pump I’ve ever used! So glad I purchased

Super efficient!

As a mom to 5, I have used many different pumps. This is by far the fastest and most efficient! I am able to get 10+ ounces in less than 10 minutes. Any criticism would have would be that it is not the most portable - it needs to be plugged in or use batteries. It would be great if it was rechargeable. Also, I would say it is average for sound - not the loudest I've used, but also not as quiet as others.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Always a Medela mom!

I am a mom of 5 girls, ages 4 months to 11 years old. I have nursed and pumped for each kidlet, using different pumps for several kids.
I always come back to Medela.
I was super excited to see that I would be reviewing the newest pump and couldn’t wait to try it!
I fell in love with it as soon as I opened it - connected tubing, it’s own carrying bag, no little membranes to lose in the sink during washing? I’m sold!
I didn’t love the vibration but only because it didn’t seem to help my output much and I felt that it made the pump louder. The other part that I wasn’t fond of was that the keys/buttons were not lit up for the late night pumping sessions. I would have absolutely been over the moon if that had been the case!
In all, I loved this pump and it’s cute size and am so thankful to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this breast pump to review!

Loved this Pump, but..

I absolutely loved this pump while I was on maternity leave. Unfortunately, the lactation consultant at the hospital told me that all of my old medela parts were compatible with this pump. So when I started back at work, I used an old connector, got milk in the tubing and motor and now my pump doesn’t work. I guess my fault for not reading the manual and trusting the lactation consultant. Using my old pump and it just doesn’t do as good of job. I fear my milk supply will suffer with my old pump.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Awful Breast Pump — Do Not Buy

This Pump In Style is all around the worst system I have used. I am a mom of 3 and have been able to breastfeed/pump for all of them thus far. This updated Pump in Style is quite an inferior product than the previous model. The settings are not nearly strong enough to adequately express milk. The short let down phase could also be confusing to first time moms. I am constantly overriding the phases to revert back to let down to increase cycle length. The breast shields now impede your view of how much milk is being expressed. I personally found it beneficial to be able to directly see how much/how often you are expressing milk. I do not like the upgrades breast shields. The large membranes are rather cumbersome. …Did a breastfeeding/pumping women actually test this product before Medela started to manufacture this pump?
I have started to let this pump gather dust in my closet while I dusted off my far superior Spectra Breast Pump. The difference in what I can express/pump is unmatched. With the pump in style i can pump about an ounce while with my spectra I can yield 2.5-3 ounces every single time.
