Good wireless security camera

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Swann Extreem Security Camera comes in a premium looking packaging and it consists of the security camera, magnetic mounting stand, SD card, USB charging cable, mounting screw and plugs, theft deterrent stickers and the operating instructions. The camera mounted strongly on the magnetic mounting stand, making it easier to be removed for charging.
Set up is really easy, just download the app from the app store, create an account and follow the app instructions. The device paired easily with the app by scanning the QR code on the camera. A live WiFi connection is required for both the camera and app to connect to each other. The app comes with three preconfigured modes: Home, Night and Away modes where the camera sensitivity and motion detection notifications can be edited.
The camera quality is good and records at 1080p. The camera also has a built-in infrared sensor which allows recording in the dark. A 16GB SD card is provided which allows offline recording. Battery life of the camera is very good, with a rated life of up to 6 months per full charge. The camera battery level can be checked via the app, and takes about 11 hours to charge to full.
There is also a live view mode which allows two way voice communication using the push to talk button on the app, which I liked. However in practice there is a noticeable delay of a few seconds on both the video and audio which make it hard to use effectively.
From my experience, the camera motion detection is a bit of a hit or miss at times. I had to set the sensitivity fairly high to capture events. Even in those cases I noticed that there is some time lag of a few seconds before the recording starts, this few seconds could've been critical and if it's a short event you could be capturing nothing of use.
The camera also seems to disconnect randomly from the app. This means that you won't be getting a app notification if a motion is detected and triggered the camera during this time. The good news is that the camera continues to record and capture the event, so you can still view it from the playback mode on the app after reconnecting the camera to it.
Based on these, I would say that the Swann Xtreem Security Camera is a decent camera and good for a simple basic set up around the home, but the delays, connectivity issues and sensitivity settings may not make this suitable for mission critical security requirements.

Security made easy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This wireless camera is an easy to install ‘plug and play’ device that will enhance your security around the home. useable exterior and interior it I have it overlooking our car port outside and covers the whole area well with its adjustable motion settings and 1080p capture.
Installation was relatively straight forward albeit will need a significant charge out of the box. The app is fairly basic compared to its peers but does exactly what is required with no fancy bells Or whistles. Only downside could be that the camera is only attached by magnet to its holder so could be disabled relatively easily if within reach.
Overall I decent addition to your home security.

Solid camera with lots of features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the Swann security camera for a few weeks now and over all I am very pleased with the product. Out of the box it’s feels well built and robust. The fixtures to fit it to a wall are straight forward. I really liked the magnetic contact of the camera to the bracket. This meant changing the angle was effortless and super easy. Since the unit is battery operated it’s also very handy to remove the unit from the wall to charge. I didn't have this task though because the batteries are still going strong! I’d have liked to have used the camera in my garden but there was a loss of signal when taking it outside. I’m sure this wouldn't be an issue if I was to have had a booster by the back door. I haven’t had a chance to get one but I’m sure that would have solved the problem.
The downloadable app is straight forward and easy to use. What’s better is that I can add additional cameras to the same ‘network’ I have created so I can keep my property safe.
There is also no monthly subscription, it feels like all security cameras these days need one so this is a huge bonus. I love the fact it has heat and motion detection too.
Highly recommend. Will be sure to add cameras in the near future.

Won't connect to wi-fi

I bought the 2 pack to replace the old wire free 2 pack that I had that doesn't connect to wifi and work anymore. So with that being said the new etreem cameras one will connect the other one will not. It's frustrating
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fantastic quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The quality of the camera is brilliant in both night time and the day. It is super easy to install and charge. The charge lasts a really long time.
However when recording motion, there is a delay even on the highest detection setting so it usually misses the first few seconds of recording which could be enough for someone to walk past the camera without being recorded at all.
There is also a delay on the live view of about 5 seconds which can be a bit frustrating. These are the only downsides i can think of though

Great Surveillance Tool

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have downsized from a home to an attached villa. In our villa we were lacking some kind of security system. We are now using this Xtreem Wireless Security Camera. It is well built and 100% wire-free. It has motion-sensing, night vision, and is weatherproof. It also has 2-way talk, free cloud and local recording. In the package were the security camera, magnetic mounting stand, SD card, USB charging cable, mounting screw and plugs, theft deterrent stickers and the set up instructions. The camera mounts strongly on the magnetic mounting stand, and you can adjust it up and down or to either side It was easy to follow the set up directions. We are still learning a lot about the camera, but we were pleased to find lots of support on the Swann web site. We actually downloaded the entire operating manual. It provided a lot more good information and tips. We mounted the camera over the front porch. The camera has good picture quality and can record during the day or at night. The charge is said to last about 6 months of ordinary use. There is an app that you can use on your smart phone to monitor what the camera is seeing, and also talk with the person who is outside. It also sends a notification to your phone when it senses movement. You can snap a picture or take a short video. We plan to add a second camera in the back of our unit. Using this camera makes me feel safer in my home.
