Too sleepy, too slow!

I purchased this camera originally to watch my front door. Unfortunately, it's not much better than a fake security camera. It's solar, so it sleeps to conserve energy. It misses motion half the time and when it does manage to detect motion, it can't seem to wake up and record fast enough to be of much use. I can walk past the camera, unlock my front door, go inside and close the door again before the camera records a single frame no matter what motion sensitivity setting it's in. If you do hang around in front of the camera and it does detect you, it won't record much more than 15s of video before going back to sleep - quite useless. Perhaps in the future, Swann will release a firmware update to this camera that actually makes it useful. The battery always reports 100%, so why is it in such a hurry to go back to sleep? Don't waste your money. There are far better solar alternatives.
Cons: (see above), only works on 2.4Ghz wifi, disconnects frequently (either because it's going back to sleep or just doesn't feel like talking. . . I don't know)
Pro: It's solar, the magnetic mounting base is pretty cool, it comes with a very long micro USB extension cord for the solar panel.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Don’t waste your money

I have had nothing but problems with this camera. We bought it to have peace of mind, but it literally wouldn’t load when we had some creep at our door in the middle of the night. It is constantly loading. And you are paying for the luxury of storing your clips in the cloud & it hardy does that ! Honestly, just dont buy a wireless camera system, save your money & upgrade to wired in, you’ll sleep soundly knowing you will catch your creeps face at least.

If your mobile device is not meeting the bandwidth requirements the resolution may be lower than desired or will not connect at all. Please reach out to a member of our technical support team and provide your Internet upload and download speeds. This will help us troubleshoot your device. The camera has 3 different settings for streaming quality; low, medium, and high. If you are having problems streaming you can lower the settings and test to see if it improves. Note that lowering the stream settings does not affect the quality of the recordings. If you have very fast upload speeds you can set your camera to high, but if your upload speed is not that good then we recommend you use medium or low for the streaming setting. Click on the blue box on the bottom right-hand corner to live chat with a technical support agent or contact us over the phone.

Disappointed

I've had these cameras for a few months now. (x4 Xtreem Wireless cameras)
They connect easily which is great
The detection is great an picks up most movement
Battery life is ok
BUT the recording is horrible
it only records a few seconds
So if someone is breaking into your home or stealing your bike it will only record about 10 or 15 seconds of the incident
I found that very disappointing :(
would love to get my money back so I can get a better quality camera but its too late for that now
the only thing I use it for now is live view

Only works on Wi-Fi 2.4Ghz. No 5Ghz

If your wireless is set to select 2.4 or 5Ghz automatically the camera will not connect to it. Poor mounting options for under eve mounting. I purchased the mounting base. The only threaded mounting is on the bottom which leaves the camera up side down. The software can flip the image but it’s slow. When I look at one of the recoded clip it displays up side down and when I flip my phone to see it right side up my phone flips it back to up side down. I wish Swann had put a threaded mount on the top also for proper under eve mounting. So far I’ve had a shadow at night making for a very poor picture. The daylight images are good.

Xtreme set of cameras

Not fast enough

Alert Is late come. 99% of the time its more than 30 sec late. But most damaging one Is that this never activate when Person come directly at the camera unless the person about 2m from the camera. This is with highest setting.

Play back time far to short on each clip ( 10 seconds)

Play back to time on each clip far to short (10 seconds) this then leaves a considerable gap between clips so you miss important details. Very slow to up date and sometimes screen freezes. Not happy with product. ( I have very fast reliable WiFi).

Hello. Thanks for reaching out with your feedback. Please know, once an event is triggered by the Xtreem Wireless Security Camera, the camera can record up to 60 seconds, depending on motion. If there are still movements, it will record a new clip. Please know PIR sensors work best when an intruder walks parallel or is passing across their "field of view" as opposed to walking directly at them. You may need to experiment with the sensitivity settings in the app and camera placement to get the ideal mix of detection. Please know our technical support team is here to help. Good idea but App not up to speed

I purchased this model because I like the flexibility it offered,
Setting up cameras was easy and loading the app was straight forward. Unfortunately the app is very clunky and it often takes significant time for it to communicate with the cameras. Too much wasted time and potentially data lost waiting for app to sort itself out. App needs to be improved.....urgently
