I bought my first Shark about a month ago. It really does very well. I bought this second one for upstairs as my daughter in law's vacuum really does not work very well. This new Shark is perfect because I have carpet and bare floors in these rooms. Your beater bar is really so well designed that I do not have to change much to go from bare floors to carpet, just the button on the handle. They are both great machines.

I purchased this canister vacuum with the understanding that canister vacuums are the best to use when you have animals. This vacuum is smaller than expected but is powerful. Human and animal hair do not get stuck around the rollers as in other vacuum brands. I feel my house is overall cleaner since I got this because of the amount of particles it picks up on every surface. It is easy to maneuver through the house, easy to use when vacuuming stairs, and even better to switch from rug to hard wood floor to carpet with the press of a button. I even feel this picks up particles that are very close to the walls as the head itself is not very large and does not have large bumpers on it. I thoroughly recommend this product!

While reviews were great and I prefer a canister vac, I find that while it picks up pet hair really well, it's heavy, clumsy, cumbersome, hose is stiff, difficult to disconnect from hose, rollers jam with pet hair, etc., etc., etc. I went from loving the concept to hating my cleaner. The only plus for me is that I can get under furniture easier. Other than that, I hate, hate, hate this cleaner. Sorry. But then I'm elderly and disabled so it just doesn't work for me and I. have no legitimate excuse to return it to the store or I would!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Suggestions for canister vacuum

My Shark canister vacuum was a Christmas gift. We have a Shark lift away upright; which I love but I wanted a canister vacuum to be able to clean everything from one room to the next. Unfortunately, thus one just doesn’t do the task for me. I cannot go very far with this vacuum as it tips over while trying to get to the attachments or if you are trying to vacuum from the floor the hose isn’t very bling or an addition metal hide attachment is needed. I like to vacuum my drapes, window shades and window seals and furniture. If I try to reach my curtains the entire canister lifts up which makes it difficult for me to get my chores done. I also do not like the attachments being attached on the outside as they get In the way and fall off. The canister unit needs to have a self storing compartment under the lid for additional attachments. The beater bar unit needs to be able to stand up by itself without falling over. I must definitely would love Shark to have a model canister that I can use from one room to the next with just a switch of attachments. Including a separate floor attachment for hard floors along with the crevice and small wand for furniture would be awesome. An additional metal wand that would extend so I could reach my ceiling fans and drapes would be amazing.
Having a detachable beater bar unit along with the separate hard floor attachment would ever so helpful and will save on the beater bar unit getting dirty from kitchen and bathroom floors.
If you could take these added features with the awesome cleaning power of the Shark; you would have a winning machine.

Excellent Suction

This is my second Shark Canister Vac. I LOVE the suction of the machine. It is amazing. I miss the bare floor attachment of the previous edition. I also find that the hose collapses easily if you turn just the wrong way. I hope Shark comes up with a better hose. If the don't, I won't be buying another one.

I bought this about a month ago. Its a great vacuum although it does have a few design flaws. the hose is a bit to long when you use attachments if you are not careful the hose tends to crimp if you don't watch which way you turn .Also it rolls really well until it rolls on the cord then it stops and you have to pick it up over the cord. I do like the fact that my attachments from my previous Shark fit the new one. My old one had a light on the handle this one does not so you can't see under dressers or other furniture the powerhead does not fit under.

Modern, quiet, high suction beast.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Shark Vertex Bagless Corded Canister Vacuum with DuoClean PowerFins is shocking. We had another shark cordless and this by far cleaned up more than ever before. We had no idea what our other vacuum was missing. Anti-Allergen Complete Seal traps over 99.9% of dust and allergens… this is totally noticeable once we cleaned with our other and then tested immediately with the Shark Vertex.
We have 4 kids & 3 dogs, you can say it gets messy. But we haven’t had any hair get caught in the PowerFin roller. I’m able to get it high places and under items much easier with the wand. The wand is multi flex so it bends in multiple directions, it has attachments that are helpful for our couch, chairs any upholstered items, even hard to reach cracks and small areas are easier to reach. The tubing is long too, so I’m not restricted while cleaning. There’s an LED light that allows me to see well under items without moving around, making sure I don’t suck up something not needed. Perfect for the entire house cleaning.

There are super convenient buttons on the handle that allows me to power on/off, low or high pile, hardwood and 3 different levels of suction, it’s a beast! The overall weight is light. Super smooth to move around my home. And it’s SO quiet!
I do wish the cord was longer, being used to my cordless, I have to unplug and reconnect a lot with our large home. But it’s retractable, so no need to wind this around any part of the machine… overall this machine is worth it for the amount of suction, cleaning power and ease of those tough areas to reach.
