the tv seems great, however, i am not sure if i am simply using the wrong cables or if my tv came defective as i am not able to insert my hdmi cables into any of the ports except one. is there 1 port for standard hdmi cables and the rest (including arc port) supposed to be different cable types like mini hdmi?

Daniel,
Thank you for choosing Samsung's QN90A TV and for your review. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing difficulties with connecting devices via HDMI. Please know most HDMI cables utilize a standard connector type and will be able to connect to any of the 4 HDMI inputs featured on your TV.
In addition to the 4 HDMI inputs, your TV also has 1 Optical, 1 LAN, and 2 USB ports; when connecting an HDMI cable, please ensure you are referring and connecting to any of the ports labeled 'HDMI 1' through 'HDMI 4'.
Should you need further assistance in connecting devices via HDMI, please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week.

Nice but fragile

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This TV has a bright picture and some awesome features within a very almost invisible edge. Has the ability to look just like a moving picture frame or display your favorite family pics. Has many built in apps, which comes to adding your own not to easy. The sound quality is not very good I'm guessing since the frame is so thin speakers mounted in rear area. Remote controller not user friendly won't control completely my Xfinity control box. I still would recommend this TV as the Pros overcome the Cons.

ICEPR28,
Thank you for purchasing the QN90A TV and for sharing your feedback regarding the sound quality. Your new TV features SpaceFit Sound to optimize sound tailored to your environment and Active Voice Amplifier (AVA) which further detects disturbances and enhances the on-screen voices for clear dialogue.
Go to Home > Settings > General > Intelligent Mode Settings. Turn the options on or off to meet your needs: - Active Voice Amplifier is available only when the sound sensor of the TV is active and the sound output is set to TV Speaker, or a Samsung Soundbar interlinked with Adaptive Picture is connected. - Adaptive Sound+ provides optimized sound quality by analyzing the viewing space and the acoustic components of the content - Adaptive Volume Automatically adjusts to a specific volume level while you are watching TV.
Several Sound Modes are likewise available to meet your personal preferences: Home > Settings > Sound > Sound Mode
You can also customize sound with Expert Settings. Go to: Settings > Sound > Expert Settings
You can control your connected devices (such as your Xfinity cable box) using your TV remote by following these set-up steps:
1) Connect an external device to the HDMI port of the TV, and then power on the external device. Your TV will automatically recognize the device when connected through HDMI and will switch the output. If it doesn't automatically detect it, then keep following the steps to set up Universal Remote.
2) Press the Home button on your TV remote to access the Home Screen. Using the directional pad on the remote, navigate to Source. When the selector is placed over Source, the Source menu will appear. Press UP on the directional pad to access Universal Remote.
3) Select Universal Remote on the Source screen. Next, select Start and make sure the device you want to connect is turned on. When your desired device displays, select it. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup and register the device. The instructions may vary, depending on the device type selected.
4) Your TV and the remote will memorize the external device and its connection port (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.) to make controlling everything even easier. Occasionally, the device may not respond after it's registered. To make sure the connection is made, you need to re-register the device.
I hope these tips help. Should you ever have questions or need help, please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week.
