Still a great product, just one annoying bug

TurboTax has been a tremendous help to me for years now. I tried a competitor's software a few years ago, and it definitely wasn't as good (it didn't handle my employer's Railroad Retirement W-2 items well at all). There's just one problem I have: My employer leaves Box 16 of my W-2 blank for the state where I live. (I work in a different state.) I've called them about this, and they insist it's not required. TurboTax allows me to leave that box blank when entering my W-2 information, but at the end when I try to E-file my taxes, TurboTax won't do it until I fill that box in. I've had to mail in my federal taxes for the past two years because of this.

TurboTax has stepped me through the process for many years now. While I might not get every dime back because I don't know all the detailed tax strategies, saving the $250 dollars that a tax preparation business charges and keeping my financial business private is worth it.

Better than sliced bread.

TurboTax is very thorough in handling most tax situations. I especially like to be able to switch between Step-By-Step and Forms views. Identifying the source for an entry is very helpful. It would be even more helpful if this feature were fully implemented in the state version so it would show the sources for Federal amounts.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax makes a horrible job Bearable

I've used Turbo Tax for many years, even when I owned my own home business, It was always easy to follow the prompts to move from income to income and deductions to deductions. Keep all your paper work easily accessible and you will have no problems using Turbo Tax. I takes the guesswork out and you can feel confident that your taxes are done right.

Turbo Tax is not as user friendly as I thought.

I found it too hard to start and navigate a return. I want to do multiple returns on this software and cannot figure out how to do that yet. I find I have to hunt and peck in order to find what I am looking for.

So Many Overrides

Found many errors. (1) 2020 AGI transferred to 2021 TT (under FILE/File a Return) did not match 2020 AGI 1040 which I e-filed through TT; (2) Payment History 2020 did not match Payment History 2021; (3) Capital Loss Carryforward did not transfer properly and had to override. Ended up having to proof and review EVERYTHING. Can't even trust TT to transfer PY info/data. TT seems to be getting worse by the year. I'd rather pay a CPA to do the work, and I used to be a CPA.
