I've been using TurboTax since near the beginning and each year it has gotten better. This year there are a lot of items around a range of stimulus payments. On review I got kicked out on Schedule 8812; I felt like I was back filling out paper forms. What's an abode. I Googled it. Thought I understood abode vs domicile. Then the AdvCTC which on Letter 6419 we were told to enter the combined numbers. When I finished working on the "paper form", I went from getting a refund of 2k to owing 4k. Luckily, I save my work before starting the review. I went through the process several times until I got it right. It was I checked the wrong box for ABODE. This was very upsetting to me. You guys should have done a better job in the interactive TurboTax.

Ok - but what's with the updates?

So - I continue to use this product year after year and the issue where it wants to update every time you open the product is ridiculous. This is true even when trying to open prior year's returns. Makes you wonder if they are uploading your data for their use. Don't love and don't understand.
Other issue is that occasionally you end up when it is checking your return it will take you to an issue that just shows a form number without any data around what the issue is. You have to open the form and then try to figure out what the issue is. This is particularly true in CA state return.

General Uniformity with some stumbling blocks

Initial startup is not intuitive for a novice. Restarting tax program after overnight shutdown requires additional steps. Computer does not save program restart icon..
Pros: My employment status changed this year

Paying with a credit card sucks

The pay with credit card option for state return filing is too large a form on my laptop. It would not shrink down after entering the information. I had no way to agree to it because the blue button was hidden andinstead ended up paying 40 bucks to have it taken from my federal refund. Poor design.
