Turbo Tax is complete disappointment

Have been filing with Turbo tax for the past 4-5 years. Every year there is a technical difficulty. Customer Service has been pulling it for the product. This year was the last time using Turbo Tax. The product is not standing up for itself. I should not have to be calling Customer Support every single time I file and spend countless hours troubleshooting.

Some trouble this year when I have had none before

In years before I had no trouble doing this and getting it put in on the first try this year for some reason it acted like it was squirrelly and kept telling me not taken.

Usually an easy process but this year I was stumped by Mich. PIP (personal injury protection) insurance through our car insurance. There should be some way to know what percent of PIP can be used as a deduction. Not even my agent knew the answer.

Love TurboTax, BUT ...

We love TurboTax. Been using it for years. BUT Indiana handles Civil Service 1099-R annuities differently from the feds. There is a little check box on the TT "forms" version that made a $900 difference in our refund. But there was no question in the Step-by-step that addressed this and I found it quite by accident. Now we have to file amended for the past couple of years to get back hundreds of dollars that should have been refunded to us. (sad face). Otherwise, TurboTax has been easy to use and a great experience.

Suggestions for improvement

There are moments when you have to stop working with TurboTax on the computer in order to retrieve some additional information. For example, during the e-file process you have to either already have your previous year's AGI before you or you have to interrupt the work flow in order to retrieve that bit i=of information. The same issue applies to having your credit card and your DL (and, when applicable, your spouse's DL) in order to complete the e-file process. It would be nice to have a statement up front regarding everything you will need to have before beginning the e-file process. Not a big deal, but this little suggestion would be easy to implement and might speed things up as the user approaches the finish line.
