Easy to use

My dad use to do my taxes every year and he was great at finding any possible deductions or ways to get the tax refund in my favor. Turbotax does that for the most part and it is easy to follow along, still wish I had my dad to be sure I fully understand the process and what these forms and questions are. It's hard for a "program" to know the real you so who knows if I am getting every dime I truly deserve. Texas has such outrageous property taxes and you need to be as creative at getting the most back as they are in creativity to get it from us.

will buying it for next year. You might check the $200.00 retirement credit bit in the Ohio tax program. it did not let me remove it as the policy is not to permit that deduction if income exceeds $100,000.00

Multi-State Returns pay several fees
on March 27, 2022

Turbo Tax Deluxe ($50 or so) is fine software, keeping tax-filing anxiety down to a minimum; getting it done.
If you moved from one-state (NY) to another (MD), you'll pay an extra fee ($45) to download the additional state form, as well as to e-file it (another $25!) which is exorbitant. I figured it was part of the original download fee, but no...you have to pay for the TV advertising. However, I got a nice refund this year, so I bent over and paid everything now to be done with it. I guess that's what TT was planning on...
Most states let you e-file for free. So, if you have extra time, just file the Part-Year Resident form yourself at the state's taxation dept website. For free, not $70.00.
Pros: I moved

State Return Filing Fees Are Misleading
on March 27, 2022

Add-on fees for State return filing are extremely misleading. Turbo Tax offers to file State returns for an additional $45, and then (after the first $45 is paid), charges another $25 for filing. I would have preferred that Turbo Tax was transparent in the fees and disclosed what services are/are not included, allowing me to make an informed decision. Next year, I'll be using a different tax preparation solution.
