Problem this year that could be avoided.

I had a problem this year. First time in many years. My wife died last fall. Wis requires form 804 which desk top Turbo doesn't support. ONY ONLINE. I had to change to mail which I found out after calls and emails. Representative was excellent.

Forms to fill out with NO Explanation

On the review I was asked to fill out forms about annuity start dates from 1099R and other information about which I had no idea what they wanted or where the information could be found, and the information was not on the 1099--the really bad part of this is that there was no way to access information about what they wanted, no links, nothing in the search file, etc.

I had to spend hours tracking where my net operating loss carryforward was not carried over from last year. Also, a stimulus payment was entered correctly, but later in the return, when I entered an expense, the amount owed did not decrease, but went from owing $129 to owing $14,000!!
I spent a good hour until I found the program changed my $1500 entry to $15,000.05!! And to think I PAID for this!!

Turbo Tax is a bit confusing to use. Some aspects are great such as importing last years return info, which is the reason I continue to use it, but others require research to understand.

Completed multiple 1040 forms

Turbotax 2021 provided a workable approach to file taxes for international income. I had to reference the Turbotax webpage a few times to gain clarity buy was able to understand the tax law limitations and complete the form
