Good, Not Perfect

Once you start using Turbo Tax, it gets easier -- except of course for IRS / Congressional complications.
All would have been in order for a five star review, but when I tried to E-file, TT produced a "Validation Failure" message. No simple solution, but I tried several and ultimately it did work. Apparently it's somehow related to Downloaded, not pure online versions. I had all updates up to date -- more than four times.

I hate this software..last time I plan to use it as was forced to manually add 180 entries over $34 in capital gains..what a piece of junk.

I have been a TT user for many years and this year when I was doing my daughter's taxes, she had a 1099-R form that she needed to file. I checked to see if we could file the 1099-R form on the free version of TT and it stated that we could. When we got to the end (after about 30 minutes), it said that it wasn't covered on the free version and she would need to upgrade to the Deluxe version. Since I already had the Deluxe version, we just took the extra half an hour and did her taxes on the Deluxe version. Here's the crappy thing...not only did she have to pay her Federal taxes because of the 1099 but now she had to pay $25 to file her state, when she wouldn't have had to pay on the free version. It's extremely upsetting to waste time doing this over again because you were misinformed.

TurboTax is Fair. Very complex in general Several pages have not clear ways to move ahead to the next CONTINUE. Overall filling out my return is something I do not look forward to.
