Turbotax is useful, and practical -

except when it is not. For many years I am doing my taxes with TURBOTAX's helping hand step-by-step. When listing the potential income, credit, etc items, most of them are absolutely not relevant to me (I do not even know what they are). Either I skip and still get the REVISIT annoying message, or by "revisiting" I put zeros everywhere. NOW at the end, I get an error message and TT want to force me to fill out forms I have no idea what they are, what they mean, and those have absolutely no relationship to my finances. 502CR?????? Then I go back to the step-by-step and delete all the zeros, I put into the LOOOOONG form. After 2-3 repetitions, TT learns what I want - NOTHING! I am a physics professor, and I am doing voluntary work for my profession. I confessed having a $250 stipend as a Professor Emerita, for about 60 hours of demanding intellectual work, evaluating student fellowship proposals. (Some of this went for buying recordkeeeping , printer paper etc supplies). US had no other choice for me but to declare myself as a business, and required to fill out another mile long worksheeet with most of the items completely irrelevant. See above 0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,,0

Disappointing program this year.

It was so hard getting started this year with Turbo Tax. I have used TT to do my taxes for the last 8 years, and have loved using it to file. It has always been so easy to use, but this was by far the hardest time I've had. Very disappointing....
Pros: My employment status changed this year

Turbo tax gives me prompts and asks me all the right questions to accurately file my taxes.
I like that I can choose to go "back" and not lose any information

I am dissapointed with this version.

I have used TurboTax for many years. This is the first time I have had trouble with my taxes being accepted. First, there was no notice to me that I needed a PIN. So rejection number 1. Then it was the AGI for me. Then it was the AGI for my wife. We always do a joint return. Then it was the AGI for my wife again... I am looking at the last year's tax form. I do see line 11 Adjusted Gross Income. Maybe it is time to check out the other guys....
