Turbo Tax is great!

Difficulty Estimating 2022 Taxes with 2021 Deluxe

Navigating TurboTax 2021 using step-by-step screens for estimating 2022 taxes was difficult. The only way I could get more logical output was to create a separate 2021 return and enter my estimates for 2022 data. I do not have a complicated return except I receive a single W2 (from a large insurance company as a statutory employee) which includes distributions from my deferred compensation plan as well as current earnings, but these are clearly differentiated on the W2. TurboTax does not process these entries logically unless I input the data as if I had 2 separate W2s one of which generates a Schedule C. TurboTax 2021 makes it difficult to generate a meaningful estimate of 2022 taxes unless I work around the problem as described the second sentence of this review. I had the same problem in several prior years as well.

after entering income....program goes to expenses....there should be a "tab" on that page that says..."I want to use the standard deduction"...and the program should go to that mode so that the user does not have to transverse all the deductions....

Filing is easy as Turbo Tax walks you through everything so you know you have done a solid job of self reporting. The downside, is you pay for Turbo Tax and still have to pay additional money to file your State tax. This seems like I am paying twice for the priviledge of requesting a refund.

easy to follow and enter data. I've been using TT for over 8 years. It has seen me through refinancing etc and I love that I don't have to reenter the personal info each year. It is comforting to know that help is immediately available. I should say that I don't have complicated situations. I'll keep using TT.
