Turbo Tax Deluxe is a step-by-step approach to entering all the required and advantageous figures needed to file a complete federal and/or state return maximizing your refund possibilities or minimizing any tax amount owed. A good work-at-home computer program that asks thought-provoking questions to help keep you from forgetting about potential deductions. It is well designed and user friendly.

Easy to do the taxes!

Entering the tax information and walking through the entire process is fairly easy. I've been a long-time user of Turbo Tax, and the most important feature is the import from prior years and the year over year comparisons.
Entering the W2s had to different difficulties. First, the tab key used to take you from field to field, now it goes to an info button, making the process slower. Then after entering one W2, and going back to enter my spouse's W2, it went back into mine which made things confusing. I had to get out of that section and go back and edit the second one to get that information added. Only a minor hiccup, but if I had not been paying close attention it could have caused me to delete some of my information already entered.
The only other issue I had was two amounts on a section regarding child credits did not get entered but were pointed out on the error check. I was never even sent through that section since both of our children are grown. It would have been nice for those fields to be defaulted to 0 since a value was required in the checking. No big deal, I am glad it was caught.
Overall, it was not a taxing experience at all filling out my taxes, I got everything done in one afternoon with no issues other than what was mentioned above, which were no big deal.

TurboTax is easier to use than I thought

It did take more than 8 hours to complete my returns. The instructions are clear to follow except do not know why it efiles without copies of W2, 1099's etc.

Turbo Tax is horrible this year

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and it's always been very user friendly and preparing my taxes has always been a breeze. Previously I've used the option to have Turbo Tax walk me through all the steps, and there are always clear explanations and instructions for what to enter. This year for the investment income portion, instead of the program actually walking me through everything, I had to manually click on edit and add the investment institutions. I also was unable to import my tax information directly from the institutions and had to manually enter everything. And yes, I was connected to the internet, no security software was blocking anything and I did all the updates prior to running the program. I had to do a partial resident file for Oregon state since I lived there for part of 2021, and I had to manually calculate my taxable income that I made on my investments while I lived there. Turbo tax did not do that for me. So I had to sit and figure out how much taxable income I made while I lived in Oregon for each of my investments. I have done a partial resident file for Oregon before and I've never had to calculate everything myself. I'm not sure what changes were made to Turbo Tax 2021, but they're terrible and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

TurboTax makes filing easy

We have used TurboTax for years. The guided instructions ensure we don't miss any important and required information for filing. The program simplifies and speeds what could be an otherwise laborious task.
