I have used TurboTax for over ten years now. I have never used any other tax preparation program because I've always been satisfied. Each year gets easier and the program is more efficient. The "get help" feature is the best!! Thank you for a superb product!

Two Problems With This Years Edition

I had two problems with this years edition. The first regarding the teachers out of pocket expenses. I had to enter the limit of $250 rather than the actual amount spent for the program to calculate it correctly. Otherwise it showed a credit for the full amount and also a credit for non-teacher related out of pocket expenses. Also, during the check process if found one problem related to distributions for dependents that weren't even called out on the return. This was a single, no dependent return and I had to enter zero to get it to clear.

Federal good; State not so good

Turbotax for Federal returns is very good. Turbotax for State returns is sometimes quite poor, in two areas. 1) There were known software errors in the State program this year, which after I filed my return, resulted in rejection. This information should have been included in the filing stage of the program, so I wouldn't need to re-run the State portion of the program after the update, and 2) the most glaring issue is that it sometimes does not accurately calculate State tax liability. In these cases, it may incorrectly calculate taxes due at the State level. Unless you have read the State issued instructions for the particular tax form and applied the information contained there, you may be paying more in State taxes than required.

TurboTax - smooth as usual

Data entry was systematic and smooth. Final numbers stood up to close review. My only complaint - I can't believe you turnaround and charge an extra $20 for the state e-file after all is done.
