Way to go

The best way to do taxes yourself. The Turbotax software prompts you on what information needs to put in each spot. It helps to fill out all the worksheets and keeps a running tally of how much tax you have pay or amount of your refund.

Not happy this year

Have used TurboTax for many years. Frustrated this year. First, every time it did the final review it would give me an error. From what I could tell it had an incorrect amount for charitable donations on one of the worksheets. I would correct it and it would rerun the check and give the same error. I was stuck in this infinite loop. Luckily I had saved my return so I just closed it, re-opened it and was able to continue. No idea why it couldn't figure this out (my returns are very easy).
My second complaint is that I buy TT Deluxe with a State return included. But then I have to pay $20 to E-File my state return. I just cannot believe you have to pay to E-File. Not sure if this is Turbo Tax or Missouri. But it is ridiculus. I almost just printed it to send it in and let them deal with that. They should charge you $20 if you do NOT E-File. Why penalize us for trying to be efficient and save paper.

Again in 2021 the tax preparation was very easy, and as a retiree, there are very few changes from one year to the next. Changes being SSA indexing and dividends/interest variances.
