Have used TurboTax for years. Have always been pleased with its design and accuracy. Easy to navigate through both income and deduction sections. In the years that I have had income or credits that are a little out of the ordinary (for me), TurboTax software has guided me through each step of the calculations and filing process.

Problem with MN state e-filing

Turbotax charged me $20 to e-file my Minnesota state tax return, then performed another check and determined that since I owe $6 in penalties, I cannot electronically file the return. I was not able to find a way to have my $20 reimbursed (through Turbotax itself, or by phone, email, or online), so I disputed the charge with my credit card company and I submitted my state tax return by USPS. This problem is caused by a product flaw (e-filing ability should be determined BEFORE charging for that service) and there should be a way for a customer to get phone help for this kind of issue without having to pay an extra fee for "technical product assistance."

The only way to file!!!

This is my first year filing on my own. I tried 2 other online companies and they were awful and complicated. Turbotax explained everything step by step without asking for additional money. Filing was a breeze.

I've used TurboTax every year since 2004/2005. I've never had an issue as every change in how things are entered in the program has either been handled by the Wizard or caught by the Review check at the end, and changes in Tax code or deductions usual is handled by an "Are you sure" questionnaire prior to moving away from the related section.

2021 Version has some glitches

TurboTax decided we should use the Standard Deduction before I had entered all my deductions. Once I entered our Charitable Contributions we were above the Std. Deduct. amount, but TurboTax still thought we were better off with Std. Ded. and would not switch to Itemization (which I need to do anyway for my state tax return). I finally resorted to checking the box (once I found it) that says to Itemize even if Std. Deduct. is higher. Hope they fix this problem!
