Problem with Bank Information

Everything went fine with completing all of the data. The problem with the program this year is that we could not enter our bank information in the SC tax form. We entered it numerous time but the program would not read the data as it kept telling us we needed to add the bank information. After entering the banking information 4 times we changed the chose to have SC send us a paper check check instead of a direct deposit.

In general very good (but had to workaround a bug)

Overall TurboTax is very thorough and easy to use as I've been using it for years. The only reason I gave it 4 stars (rather than 5) was due to a bug related to charitable contributions that I had to workaround (see https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-credits-deductions/discussion/how-do-i-report-this-charitable-contributions-bug/00/2410075).

Experienced problems this year with federal/state

I've been using TurboTax for over 25 years and up until this year there was never a glitch in preparing my taxes. This year was a bit different. I completed my taxes in the usual way. I don't benefit this year from itemizing so it should have been super easy. However, when the program looked for errors in my return, it said I had not completed a line on Form 8812, a form used in claiming the child tax credit. I had not entered anything about a child tax credit so I was baffled. I deleted the form from my return and TurboTax still identified this same error. I entered "0" for the required data so the problem would go away. But still it should not have happened. Also, after completing my federal return, the data was automatically entered into my State of Idaho return. I was eligible for a deduction for health insurance premiums but TurboTax did not ask me any questions so that I could benefit from this deduction as I had in prior years. I had to manually enter this information into my state of Idaho return to get this deduction. I was disappointed in TurboTax this year.

Quit with the repetitious comments

When I open the program, it says it will take just a moment, and then, trying to be clever, says "we realize it's more than a moment" or something close to that. Quit with the cleverness, please! And, when I decline to enter my name/address/etc. EVERY time I open the program, DO NOT tell me that the information is "mandatory." Since I can continue on with the program, it is obviously NOT mandatory. And, offer that option one time, not every time I use the program
