Turbo Tax Best Way to File

I have used Turbo Tax Deluxe for my return filing for 10 years. Since I own my own business (Schedule C) it takes several hours to post my person and business information. Filing with Turbo Tax is time consuming, but still the best way to file.

Turbo Tax step by step guide were awesome. My having some knowledge there was no need for a live expert. A great product even for starters.

Errors - disappointed

I've entered all my data and there are two situations where the program is kicking back errors. First, it has entered my home interest twice when I've entered it once. It reduced other deductions because this double entry made it "over the limit". Second, as an educator, we can take a $250. deduction for expences. Simple, right? Turbo Tax throws it on a completely different form, disallowing electronic filing because of a line 33 item. I've deleted the $250, but the error still exists. TurboTax wants me to mail my return. Bummer!

Rejected Over and Over

After having my returns rejected, I made the suggested correction and re-filed. Then it was rejected for a different reason, so I corrected and re-filed again. Once again rejected. Now I'm out of time and have to print and file (both federal and state) and pay (state) by mail. This is the second year in a row that I'm having this hassle with TurboTax. The data entry and printing are second to none, but these problems with filing are purely your fault. I want a refund.

We ran into some issues this year with our extension: 1) TT keeps prompting us to update the software multiple times during the same session. 2) One 10/16/22, we received a warning that the efile option had expired on 10/15/22, which was disconcerting. We tried again on 10/17/22 and it works thankfully. Otherwise a good experience overall.

i had a terrible time

i tried to efile my return AND authorized a payment to the IRS from my checking acct. THEN my return was rejected and i was told i had to mail in the return. BUT nowhere could i find if i should send in a check to pay for the underpayment of taxes and if so what about that authorization i've already given to the IRS to take the $$? I'm feeling that i could possibly end up paying twice what i owe the government! i could not find any help on here! so i am very very disappointed with turbotax help!

More positive update to yesterday's review

I was able to correct all of the error messages by extensively tracing the source of data to a place that I could correct the input. A person with less experience would have a very difficult time correcting the error messages I received in the review. The error message text "cash deductions are too high" for cash charitable deductions where an individual is taking the standard deduction on form 1040-sr is not precise. It should say that the entry is inconsistent with the charitable deductions itemized in the deductions step-by-step. I do not know why the Turbotax software input the 2020 "request for extension estimated payment" into this year's (2021) "request for extension estimated payment form" but I was able to find a place to correct the input that did not trigger an error message. I found 'my" input error that caused form 8995 to duplicate my K-1 losses. All-in-all the Turbotax software made my life better and I was able to e-file.
