Great but noticed some errors this year (2021)

1). In the Deduction Summary, Turbo Tax showed $300 of additional tax deductions for 2021 in the summary for 2020 as well as affecting the totals for both years. The numbers were correct on the 1040 form, however.
2). I was charged an overpayment fee that was taken out of my $125 refund. I don't know why and there was no way to change it on the form itself. I looked in the FAQs but didn't find the answers. Had to file quickly so went ahead and filed with the $23 penalty.

Turbo Tax is sometimes awkward but over all it asks the hard questions to keep you out of trouble. Have used Turbo Tax for over ten years now and it works.

Fast and Simple

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years. After the first time, I just follow the prompts and answer the questions. I am able to use the same Turbo Tax for my children as well.

Disappointed in 2021 version

I have been using Turbo Tax for approx 10 years. I found this years version the most difficult to work with. First off, it wouldn't let me file my extension electronically. It told me to print it and mail it in. I was extremely frustrated. I went to Tax Act and filled an extension electronically.
I had chosen for TT to guide me through doing my return. After the first section it dumped me out and no longer guided me through the completing of my return. Each time I completed a section, it started me back at the beginning again and I would have to scroll down to find where I had left off. Needless to say all this was very frustrating and it took me twice as long to complete my return.
Before next year, I will decide whether to give TT another chance or move on to another preparers software.

Although my taxes aren't complicated, I have relied on TurboTax for at least 15 years to assist me with filing my returns. I appreciate that the software walks you through every step when filing both your Federal and State returns. Even if some of the situations don't apply to me, I learn a lot from their informative and educational links. Their programs are suitable for a novice like me and also for individuals who are in a higher tax bracket with more complex assets, expenses, investments, etc. I will always turn to TurboTax for guidance and assistance when it comes to filing my taxes.

No problems up to 2020. In 2021 there was an error transferring data from form 1040 to form 540 in California. In the schedule CA (540), California Adjustments-Residents was missing other income (item 8z). I filled MFS using community property for CA.
