TurboTax is good, but less than awesome

I bought a state return in order to follow instructions from the North Carolina Dept of Revenue to file a $0 tax due return for a military spouse who is not subject to NC tax (residence of record with the USMC is Texas) but who had 1099 income with no way to file a form NC-4 to declare herself exempt. Turbo Tax would not allow me to force the NC return to go to $0. So, I filed a paper return. And worse, Turbo Tax would not allow me to delete the NC return from my Turbo Tax file/software. In the FAQs I found other filers in a similar situation. Turbo - please allow us to delete what we buy by mistake. I'm disappointed that I wasted $45 but I'm more disappointed that you won't let me wipe that part of the file in order to keep from confusing myself now or later.

Turbo Tax Deluxe provides so much useful information and options that I feel well prepared to finalize and submit my returns. I also learn something new each tax season which speaks volumes for the level of oversight Turbo Tax provides to its customers.

why pay twice for state return buy it and file it

It seems a bad time to pay taxes and buy the state that is listed as free but you really are paying for it, and then have to pay to file it too. poor value

Not as good as it used to be

1st I was charged $25for my state return. I thought it was included??!!
2nd There are way too many extra categories but i guess that is just the tax code.
3rd some areas are not clear enough in their explanations/
