Used to be the Best

For two years in a row, I've tried to file using Turbo Tax. Last year the program crapped out. Halted. Would not proceed to file online, (despite having paid for it.) This year, my AGI is incorrect, according to the IRS. I absolutely did use the correct number. So, can't file online again.

I hope Turbo Tax will include electronic filing of tax extension on the CD or Desktop version. Other than that, everything is easy to follow.

I have been a fan of Turbotax for quite a few years, but this year I was very disappointed. It did not bring forward any information from previous years returns, so it was much more tedious to input everything all over again.

Not foolproof

I have used Turbo Tax every year for well over 10 years. This year there was one big issue I felt needed to be mentioned. Since Turbo Tax defaults to giving the taxpayer the biggest Federal Advantage in deduction method (Standard vs Itemized) - it does NOT consider the OVERALL advantage when combined with STATE. I needed to dig to find this out and could have EASILY made a very COSTLY mistake if I was just following TURBO Tax guidance at face value. Since the State and Federal programs are integrated - then the overall combined tax should be considered when Turbo Tax advises one deduction method or the other. This is very important.
