Turbo Tax Concern E-Filing (for State) not include

I have used TurboTax for 20 years now - I find that I need to shop around for next year as I am being charged $25 for State returns. This results in being charged approx. $75 for the Deluxe product. I do recall years back the State E filling was Free - should consider getting at least one free.

I have used turbo tax for many, many years

The main reasons I have stayed with this product are: easy year over year transfers and I have rentals.
The reasons I did not give this product a 5 star review:
1. Turbo Tax now "upsells" really hard to a more expensive product unless you read the fine print. I do NOT need Premium to handle Schedule E income.
2. I discovered last year that TT does an AWEFUL job of dealing with sales of Properties and 1031 exchanges. I had to basically do it by hand and then plug the numbers. Very disappointing as I have 25 years of rental history and it should have been much more easy that it was.
3. This whole "free state return" is bogus because it charges for Efile - which is what the IRS WANTS us to do Free should be FREE....I agree w charging for a second state return but come on.

I do taxes for a volunteer organization - and I could just do my taxes using their software. May convert one of these years do to ease of use and $$$$ savings.

the constant updating of the program makes the program useless and the updating process usually fails requiring manual updates. Probably going to a competitor next year

We really like to use Turbo Tax - have for years. Yet there are still GLARING usability issues particularly in the filing portion of your system. Check boxes are formatted such that 'continue' boxes are NOT visible. Very illogical and confusing explanations. Repetitive presentations that make you wonder what the heck you are asking for .....again.

Ok in a pinch

I have used Turbo Tax in prior years, but I think it leaves a lot to be desired if you have an idea of what you need. If you have a very basic return, it's pretty good. If you know you need certain things, it's often difficult to find them and/or you can't access them at all. Pretty disappointed this year.
