Excellent product

All the steps were easy to understand, especially the checks and double check, allows me confidence my tax return will not be audited and filled correctly. Only one clinch, I had to use a mouse to enter numbers on the SSA 1099 section, the mouse pad on my laptop would not allow me to enter numbers.
Pros: My employment status changed this year, I moved

Asked for a lot of detail and info for a K1 to then only say are you going to make over 350K if not you don't need this form... I agonized over 20 minutes on that form to not need it. Ask the 350K question 1st in my opinion.

It was very frustrating at first. I kept trying to down load the cd deluxe and it wouldn't, it kept saying failed. After many attempts it finally downloaded federal but said state failed. Then I decided to do my federal and when I finished it ended up going into state even though it said it failed.

Helped me get the inherited home sale properly calculated. Helped me properly handle my solar panel tax credit. And, of course, all the usual items.
Pros: I moved

My experience with TurboTax is pretty long. I have been buying a copy for more than twenty years, except for one year awhile back. I decided to try a free copy of Tax Act that I downloaded online. The biggest flaw was the lack of the five-year history. So, I fudged it for that year. The biggest flaw I find in TurboTax is that a lot of things that were at one time very good (understandable) and easy to use.... has gotten more difficult to use over the years. Each year seems to be somewhat more difficult. I suggest that your technicians go back twenty or more years and run comparisons with later versions. What you need to be looking for is changes that were made from the viewpoint of computer literate techies instead of building the product for the non-computer layman. These people do stuff and would like to know why, instead of simply doing it by rote. Another thing is with document storage after returns are completed. I like to store the results in a folder of my definition and creation and using my own naming conventions. I find this very difficult. It is a multi-step process for each separate document. I have to point to the document in TurboTax and download the Tax form (as opposed to the TurboTax Woorksheet documents) then I have to point the storing process of TurboTax to my folder, then when asked to do a save, I have to type the whole document name according to my own saving conventions. And then finallly do the save. Then I need to go through the whole same iterations of steps for each of my wanted documents. Usually, after I have saved those documents yearly then I build some of my own spreadsheets or other records so I know more of what my financial situation is based upon my Tax filings. Those then are usually meticulously compared to other documents I have created throughout the year just ending. I'm sure that other Tax computer products are even more difficult to capture valuable data from. So I will use TurboTax continuing into the future. I am 84 years old and I'm not an accountant or financial wizard but I do like to be aware of where we stand from year to year.
