Too many service calls to rate higher.

The refrigerator doors came with scratches. Two weeks later, and just twenty minutes after the service tech came by to check the damage, two new doors arrived. They are huge. The tech couldn’t return that day, so we put them out on our porch for two more weeks to wait for the tech to return. In the mean time, 2 more doors arrived. The tech had ordered them after his initial visit, and before we’d called him to tell him the doors were here. So, then we had 4 doors on our porch, while waiting two more weeks for the tech to return. The doors aren’t light, either, and they are bulky. It takes some strength to maneuver them. The tech arrived within the 4-hour window (3rd time we’ve had to be home during a 4-hour window), opened up one boxed new door and found it banged-up. The second one was good, and one of the doors from the other set was damaged, too, but luckily, there was one undamaged right-side door, and one undamaged left-side door. Just luck at that point. The next morning, 7 minutes after turning the ice-maker on, water spewed out onto our floor from the water dispenser on the door. A week later, during another (4th) 4-hour window, the tech guy came out and attempted to correct the problem. He was unsuccessful, determined the refrigerator was defective and ordered a new one for us. A month-and-a-half later, we received a new refrigerator (5th 4-hour window), and a shipping co. came by (6th-4-hour window) to retrieve the damaged doors. Sigh. The refrigerator may be fabulous, but it’s hard to look at it objectively, after all the appointments and the tedious unloading and loading two new refrigerators, not to mention all the time it takes to peel off the packing tape protection.

One flaw with shelving options

Refrigerator is just what we needed. Took one year to receive due to supply chain issues although could not get a clear answer from GE. One issue is the way shelving designed. Shelf heights fixed to varying levels since rack brackets in fixed locations. Only one shelf can have depth shortened to allow for larger bottles and can only be placed on right side. Poor design and surprised by this limitation

Drawers need a redesign

I love the counter depth feature but it does take getting used to having more on the door, and less space where I am used to, like the crispers. My previous refrigerator was a 17 ft GE as well, but this one does not feel as big. The drawers are one of the biggest issues with this unit, the crisper drawers are much smaller about half as big as the previous model I had for 17 years. I think there is more wasted space due to the configuration and the size of the snack drawer. The other problem is that they aren’t smooth tracking, you need to lift and sometimes jiggle them in, the same with the freezer. In the freezer the top drawer needs to be lifted up over the stops to fully expose the bottom drawer. And although there is plenty of clearance in the top drawer or tray it is difficult to get much into or out of it, so the actual usable square footage is less.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love the counter depth

So far all has gone well. Fits beautifully in our condos small kitchen. It has enough room for storing food for 2. My only complaint is the tray for the ice and water in the front. It is flat and any water that misses the glass immediately goes on the floor.

Great features for the "counter depth" size we needed to fit our kitchen; it's the only counter depth model I know of with ice/water in the door. Likes: good lighting, shelves and drawers move easily enough, ice maker is compact, yet keeps up with demand, noise level is not objectionable, one retractable shelf for tall items, slate finish looks nice and is easy to keep clean, and the unit was packaged properly so it arrived in perfect condition. Things we're getting used to that are different from the old refrigerator: it runs most of the time, doors don't fall shut - gotta push them closed, and the fresh food compartment's side-by-side door arrangement means one need to know where things are inside or open both doors to find stuff. That's common to the French door design, and not a shortcoming of this model compared to other brands. Overall, we're very pleased with it.
