The GE17 cu ft counter depth fridge was the only one we could find that would fit into our existing countertop/cabinet space. We just didn't want to replace with a deeper model. It has some fairly nice features, but the door mount ice maker is too small although it does freeze quickly. The ice/water dispenser is a combined operation, so you have to select water, cubed or crushed ice rather than having separate levers. The door shelving dislodges on occasion and the doors themselves fly open. There weren't any floor models to look at and on-line pictures just do not tell the whole story. We didn't look at other reviews, but again, this model was the only refrigerator that would fit.

Wouldn't EVER buy again

I bought this because of the size. I needed a smaller fridge to replace what I had when we built the house. The in-door ice and water dispenser beeps for hours at a time indiscriminately. What starts it? I don't know. I can spray Windex on the bottom door and it starts up. There is condensation in the freezer. Every single time I open the fridge or freezer it is marked with fingerprints. I even bought handle covers for the double doors and freezer door to minimize this. I live alone and it's just me. I go to clean them off the handles and then it starts to beep. I just got home from a weekend away with no one here and no one using it and it hasn't stopped beeping. I've unplugged it as suggested and still it beeps. I had a different brand refrigerator for over 12 years and never had an issue.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Please check and make sure there are no packages on the shelves or door is preventing the door from closing completely. Also make sure no issue with the gasket. The stainless steel handles are not finger print resistant and will show them. The condensation in freezer section would indicate door not closing all of the way. We apologize for any inconvenience. GE Refrig with ice maker water in door

Water disposal if very slow. Ice maker also slow. No alarm on freezer and have had it defrostonce already although it appearerd closed. Shelving is not spaced so that you can

Here is some valuable information about dispenser with slow water. https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16239 -- Also make sure that you use a saddle valve when connecting to water supply line and not a self piercing saddle clamp. Here is information to check with slow ice production. https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17763 -- The freezer door has an alarm attached to it but the door must be open approximately a couple of inches. I was so excited to get a refrigerator w/ an ice maker. It is a beautiful refrigerator and my space in the kitchen was limited, so I didn't have many options. Like it overall and am still trying to adjust so things make sense where I place them. Very limited space inside.

Fits into my small kitchen.

The refrigerator works fine, but I had to adjust to the size. Space is limited compared to my previous refrigerator in my larger home.
My only real criticism is that, when it runs, it's noisy. There are no clear instructions for adjusting the temperature. I checked the info that came with the fridge and on line.

Small and beautiful!

I love this French door refrigerator! Its small, which is what I needed for my kitchen space but its holds plenty! The layout is different for me but when I realized that there was plenty of space for everything I need. the freezer is also small but if you stack things in a certain way it can hold so much. I looked online for storage ideas because it just seemed too small. Was I wrong. After seeing ways to store there is plenty of room in fridge and in freezer. I couldn't be happier.
