Nice fridge so far. Only had it about a month. Quiet, well lit inside, fits right in the space perfectly. Ice maker works well.

Great fridge but has issues

I love the fridge except for 2 things-
1- no clear verbiage about controlling the amount of ice it makes. Twice now I’ve been woke up because the ice container is full yet it wants yo empty. 2- would be great if it had one more shelf, luckily I used one from old fridge.

Disappointed in freezer shelves. I would have liked a shelf above the basket rather than all that space.

I should have chosen a different model, not happy with this one and it’s a scratch and dent. As of now I hear water running and can’t see where it’s coming from or going.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

An Overall Good Purchase

I had time to look for the best side-by-side I could find. Our old side-by-side was beginning to have problems after 21 years. I hunted for a lot of current information since overall quality in many areas has declined over the years. I particularly paid attention to what appliance professionals had to say and I’m very glad I did. This GE is actually a very good quality refrigerator. The doors, shelves and drawers are impressive compared to others I physically evaluated. It’s designed well and is very roomy for our purposes. It’s extremely quiet when it runs and it holds exact temperatures in both the refrigerator and the freezer. The ice maker’s dispenser of cold filtered water and a choice of ice cubes works perfectly. It has simple convenient controls located outside of the freezer door. It claims to have “no clean coils” however we will still locate them at least twice a year to attempt to clean them since we have a large dog. It’s solid and handsome and appears to be put together well. I gave it four stars because it’s not made in the USA. It’s made in Mexico which was my second choice for a simple side-by-side. I contacted GE regarding countries of origin before I purchased and though some more complicated multi-layered refrigerators are still made in America, there are NO side-by-sides made in USA anymore.
