The ice maker's arm to stop making ice doesn't work. It shoots ice down the back of the shelves. Its very loud when it refills the ice tray. The door shelves are large on top and really small on the bottom, like the size bottles of soy sauce, etc. Other than that, it's ok.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Our prior GE refrigerator/freezer stopped working after 20-something years. The layout of this refrigerator is very similar, but does seem a little deeper (either that or the fact that there's not a lot in it due to having to toss everything out when the old one quit). Nice having the door alarm and digital readouts of the temperature on the freezer door. Looks good, does the job...although I have my doubts it will last as long as the last one.
