Lemon of a Fridge
on August 17, 2022
Posted by: Blazo
from Overland Park, KS
This is my second review of this Fridge. I had it operational for 2 month and than needed 4 repairman trips in a month period to replace Compressor and than Heating element. Now i get 1 glass (single glass) of cold water first thing in teh morning and afterwards faucet temperature and occasionally warmer than faucet. GE is saying it's normal due to their 16oz cold water reservoir. HOW IS IT NORMAL to produce water warmer than teh faucet? Water coming out of the Fridge is warmer than what goes in the Fridge. Not an expert but common sense tells me that is not "NORMAL"!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for taking the time to reach out and let us know about the experience you have had with this refrigerator. We are very sorry for the trouble you experienced and are glad to see one of our Senior Advocated is assisting you.

The water that is dispensed is stored in a reservoir in the back of your fresh food section. Once the reservoir is emptied it will fill again, but needs time to chill. If a large amount is dispensed at once, the reservoir will empty and water straight from your home water lines will be dispensed.

We hope this helps and are happy to help with any other questions you may have.

Hello,

Thank you for connecting with us! At GE Appliances, we strive to deliver the highest quality products and services that meet every need of our consumers; however, we understand that there is also room for improvement. This said, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience this refrigerator has caused you. This is certainly not the experience we expect or wish for our consumers, so please know that we understand just how frustrating a situation like this can be.

Excessive ice buildup may occur if the freezer door is left open or opened frequently. If applicable, check to see if any items are preventing the freezer door from sealing properly.

Throughout operation, there are many sounds this unit may make. These sounds are normal and may consist of dripping sounds, buzzing, clanking, cracking, and more. For a more in-depth guide on sounds, please refer to this article: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=15901&_ga=2.115553670.1675107190.1664201376-281568020.1661262562

If you continue to experience issues after troubleshooting, we highly recommend taking advantage of your warranty by scheduling service. You can schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737.

If you need any additional assistance, please know that you can always reach out to us, and we’ll be happy to help!

Hello - Thank you for choosing GE Appliances and taking the time to provide feedback. However, we're sorry to hear the water, ice and light doesn't work, and your freezer isn't defrosting. We understand how disappointing that would be, and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We'd love to help you.

If there is no water or ice cube production, ensure the supply line or shutoff valve isn't clogged, and that the filter is properly installed. Also, check that the water supply is turned on and properly connected.

If the icemaker does not work, be sure the icemaker is switched to the ON position. When first purchasing the fridge, air may be trapped in the water system. Press the dispenser arm for at least two minutes. Also, ensure the dispenser is not LOCKED. You can press and hold the LOCK pad for 3 seconds.

This fridge has Adaptive Defrost meaning the refrigerator will only defrost as needed. It accounts for door openings and usage to determine when it is necessary to defrost and how long the defrost cycle needs to run. If the refrigerator is not being frequently used (for example, your family is on vacation), it will not defrost as often. You may learn more here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16699&_ga.

If the LED lights do not work in your fridge, a technician will need to replace the lights. You can schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or online here: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm.

If the above suggestions do not resolve the issues, please get in contact with our service department. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us as we're always glad to help. -Shayla@GEA

There's not as much versatility with rearranging the shelves as I'd like. The ice dispenser is less of a dispenser and more of a "spewer" or a "hurler". Chunks of ice are slung about the kitchen with, roughly, 7.5% ending up in the glass. When I go to get to ice, the kids and dogs run upstairs while the wife screams, "The Iceman cometh!"

We need a rare size. Apparently 33inch wide fridges are hard to come by. This one has a ton of options for being a 33inch size. It has an external water and ice dispenser with slim in-door ice maker. It has a slide back shelf for taller items and THREE in-door gallon shelves. The bottom pull out drawer has an adjustable divider and both sections of the freezer have an adjustable divider.
