I bought this fridge and had it installed on July 2, 2016 really liked the fridge then today July 28, 2016 it just died and I lost everything in freezer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This refrigerator looks really nice and is very quiet. The door shelves on the left hand side are very small.... you cant really put anything in them. If you have a large family with a lot of groceries this one is probably too small, but overall a good buy.

I do not feel this has as much room as my side by side! First, there is only two decent sized shelves on the right door and one small shelf. There are thin shelves, approximately 2-3inches wide on the left door, due to the ice maker, therefore I have A LOT LESS room for condiments, ect that I was used to storing in my multiple, deep shelves in the door of my side by side! Second, the ice maker does not make very much ice! We are a family of five now and we are at work during the day and we still run out of ice every evening! This refrigerator does not have an extra ice maker in the freezer drawer! There is a lot less options for shelf placement and it just seems awkward, I'm still adjusting things and I've had this fridge for 2 months! Overall, I wish I would have went with the side by side and saved $800 and I would have had plenty of ice for these hot summer nights! One more thing, I bought the slate because I have kids and didn't want finger prints everywhere, BUT the handles are stainless steel and show fingerprints ALL THE TIME, thank goodness for norwex cloths, I am constantly wiping down the handles!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

ice maker capacity

We had a GE side-by-side for 18 years and loved it. so, we decided to go GE again.
the only thing, so far, that we dislike is the limited ice capicity (about a gallon) compared to the previous frig. which had about 2 gallons. wish I would have known this before buying.

Love the New Finish!

My new GE French door refrigerator was installed yesterday. I LOVE the slate finish. The roomy interior and the ice maker on the door are also big plus. Nice job, GE!

Very Small Ice Maker

We had a GE side-by-side for 20 years and loved it. so, we decided to go GE again. The limited ice capacity makes this fridge unusable for a family.We can only fill 3 glass with ice. I wish is had the same capacity as old GE did.

We are glad to hear you love the look and value of your model, but regret it does not make as much ice as you would expect. Your model should make approximately 3 pounds or 85-90 cubes per day.
