Hello Stephen refrig - Thanks for your feedback. New refrigerators sound different from older refrigerator models. They now have more features and use newer technology. GE Refrigerator

The refrigerator should have extra room to move shelves higher so it can hold more larger items across the bottom shelf. I find that it’s not big enough for some stuff so you have to limit space. The left side door only holds very small items which it could be wider in width. The freezer has only one shelf and bottom space. Most I’ve seen have storage on side of slideout and just inside top door that is attached to door will hold juices, and smaller items. This one is limited. So you can’t really buy for the month not enough room.

Really well thought out for space in refrigerator area great lighting , for when the midnight snacks happen. No more bending over to the bottom for the good stuff. Easy to clean the evidence off for who took moms snacks.

It works, but noisy

Overall the refrigerator works for what it's intended for.
When the compressor kicks on, it's very obvious the noise is coming from the refrigerator. Loudest fridge I've ever owned. Once it quiets down there is a fan noise that is also clearly coming from the fridge (Maybe the evaporator fan motor??)
In this day and age we should be able to make silent refrigerators.
Would be great if GE would come out with an update that fixes this problem and provides recall parts and service

Good product, not the most quiet fridge but you get use to it, fingerprints show and you have to keep wiping them off. Lot of room inside.
