1st time with a GE appliance

Some features we like: water & ice in the door, that the light goes on automatically when you use the water. Having the freezer in the bottom is nice also. Not thrilled that we can't put tall bottles in the door/fridge, & pretty restricted on shelf placement. Shelves inside left side door way too narrow for much of anything. And disappointed that the ice only holdsa small amount of ice. It wasn't giving ice rcently & had to go inside, found a bunch of ice melted & froze together, preventing any cubes from dropping down. Wondering how that can happen?

Weird features

So many weird things with this fridge. The fridge is narrow so it is very deep, but this poses a problem for having to remove items in the front to get to the ones in the back. The shelve are semi-adjustable, but we can barely fit tall items like milk and wine bottles in the fridge. The door shelves only hold very short items. In general, storage of basic refrigerated items is difficult with this fridge. The control panel isn't very user friendly and I had to refer to the manual to set temps and such. The slate is a nice look and doesn't show fingerprints or smudges, but oddly the handles (where you actually touch), do. They are hard to keep looking clean. Why go to all the trouble to create a product that doesn't show fingerprints and then use a different surface where you touch?

Good, decent appliance, but feels somewhat cheap.

I purchased this because I was looking for a bottom freezer refrigerator to replace my old one. I am limited by the size of the space for the appliance, so this seemed my best (actually only) choice. The drawers inside are very cheap plastic, and the cubbies inside the doors are not very conducive to holding containers very well. It has a very small ice capacity, and with only 2 of us in the house, it barely keeps up with our demand; having extra people means I have to buy ice.
The upside is that it is a good looking refrigerator, and fits in my smaller space, giving me the upscale benefits.

Only thing I dislike about my refrigerator is the ice dispenser. Ice chips fly everywhere when I push lever to get ice.

Lots of room for limited width

We had this installed almost a month ago and have been very pleased with it. We had limited space so needed something under 34 inches wide. We had to move up the cabinets above the refrigerator space but it was worth it. This was a bit deeper than our old refrigerator (probably because of the ice/water in the door) but it doesn't bother me at all. It has a LOT of space in the refrigerator, something I REALLY needed and although I wish it had more area for taller items I was glad to have the push back tray shelf for those taller items. Because the shelf adjustments are stationary it has limited capabilities to move them around satisfactorily, although I admit I haven't really messed with them a lot. The only thing that bothers both of us is that although it has 2 side by side veggie/fruit bins which you can access one at a time opening either door, the deli tray below that goes across the entire width. If they had split that drawer then you could get into it without opening both doors. That deli door also has a squeal to it when you open and close it (which is great for the dog because he knows to come running for meat or cheese, lol).
We opted to order the in door water/ice dispenser and my husband is happy with that. You just have to be sure to have the glass up under the dispenser when getting crushed ice as it tends to "splatter" out. And the water spout is more to the front of the fridge so you have to hold the glass forward and push the lever with your hand. But these are little annoyances that you learn to live with easily. It surprised me that such a small ice compartment could supply a good supply of ice (but we also have a portable for when I want a lot more).
I LOVE, LOVE, Love the bottom freezer with the plastic trays. It is easy to organize and things don't drop down from the upper level to the bottom level. And very easy to clean. It tends to make a "creaking" noise when closing and that's a bit distracting.
All in all, especially if you have an older home that needs a smaller width fridge, this is really nice. And we love the slate color (I call it graphite), easy to clean and no smudges (and it WILL hold magnets). Although as one reviewer mentioned, they used stainless steel for the handles and they DO smudge, but that's easy/quick enough to wipe. I only gave it 4 stars because of the little issues I mentioned in the review.
I would recommend this to a friend!
