Disappointed in GE quality

Refrigerator replaced a 10 year old machine so it seems great compared to a dying model. It quickly revealed all the less than desired issues with a brand new machine. The door starting squeaking and squealing so I had to remove it and file the hinge pin and regrease. Everytime the freezer door closes it dislodges the refrigerator door. The door alarm rarely alarms when this happens. The defrost cycles makes grinding noises to the point I'm surprised there is anything left. The compressor is so load it can be heard from another floor. We have had this machine almost a year. I need to work this out before the warranty expires.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Overall, I'm very happy with my new GDE25ESKSS refrigerator! Not only does it look great, it also seems to be very well-built. Shelving is adjustable and sturdy, seems durable; storage on the inside of the refrigerator section door has great depth; refrigerator and freezer door suction feels tight. The only downside is that it is noisy during normal operation. It's not a deal breaker, but the operational noise is definitely noticeable and much more than I expected.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Our old refrigerator died unexpectedly so we needed one that would fit in the space and not have the water/ice options (we don’t have line run for that). I used to have a side by side and I can’t believe how much room there is in this one! Love the pullout freezer on the bottom and it matches our microwave from GE!

This unit is sound, well-built and sturdy. Having the ice maker in the freezer instead of the refrigerator door eliminates many design obstacles that led to failures in our last refrigerator. The ice is in the freezer where ice should be.
Having just one refrigerator door, and one freezer drawer reduces the potential for leaks and frost build up as well as reducing the surface area of rubber door seals and their eventual deterioration.
This GE has a basic electronic panel with temperature control and door alarm concealed on the inside of the door reducing the need to clean a touch screen panel on the exterior (believe me this does make a difference.)
In my opinion the model GDE25ESKSS refrigerator/freezer is a great product.

Nice fridge

All in all it’s an “okay” fridge, I like the spaciousness, appearance and I believe the internals to be okay, however; the shelving is flimsy and the door hinge does not support as much weight as I would expect. In fact, the door requires quite a bit of force to close, in other words, I can’t just swing the door shut, I have to physically push the door shut. It appears the inner molding of the door actually drags on the molding of the fridge. I have a very average amount of weight stored on the door shelving. I’ve checked to make sure the door hinges are aligned and hung correctly and they do appear to be aligned. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Very fragile Freezer

We had this fridge for three days and the freezer started to squeak. the Ice machine is very slow.

Exactly what I was looking for in the price range I had. Beautiful addition and huge amount of space.
Only complaint, you HAVE to physically close the fridge door or it will not fully shut & seal.

I had an Amana fridge for 23 years! Worked well & now it was time to renew as the freezer was gurgling & and not keeping food frozen. After research I liked the reviews of the GE product.
