new fridge

The door does not close easily. We have to push it tight so there is no gap. It's like the magnet strips are not that powerful. Otherwise we love it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Ice Maker
on January 1, 2020

We have had this refrigerator for a year and for a year we have to bend over and fish out ice that falls back and under the freezer EVERY single time you open the freezer. This is a design flaw that I am sure some engineer could have avoided! I actually feel like we were taken.

Noisy compressor and frequent cycling
on February 28, 2019
Posted by: Eric TT
from San Jose, CA
Bought Dec, 20 2018. It ran fine for 1st month and now the compressor kicks in less than every 2 hour (something like 1 hour 30 min) and it runs for 40 mins. (The temperature were set at 37 and 0 as default) The motor has high pitch sound that drive us insane. Other than it has big capacity which is great and stainless finish – but it is a lemon for sure. It is worse than our previous 25 years old refrigerator made by Whirlpool. Should have kept using that good old one :( Highly "NOT Recommended "

Hello Eric TT - Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your refrigerator. The new high efficiency compressor may run faster and longer than your old refrigerator and you may hear a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound while it is operating. Also, you may hear a Whir sound when the fans spin at high speeds (this usually happens after the doors have been open for a while).
Additionally, new refrigerators do run for longer periods of time than older models. Current refrigerator compressors are designed to run more than 80% to 90% of the time. More information about run time is contained in the link below. If you feel this information does not adequately describe what you are noticing, service should check it.
Thank you for providing your feedback and choosing GE Appliances!

Bad Door Seal Design
on May 6, 2020

from Mobile, AL
I've seen now this on several posts over the last year, thought it was just me. Our fridge is level, but never closes without a firm push. Will often hear the door alarm from another room after a few minutes. Sometimes the cold compartment stays open just a crack (1/8", 3mm) and our entire freezer gets frosted and all the ice gets fuzzy. Too bad, its a nice machine, just a victim of poor design. We have tried lubricating the hinges, forcing the level to the back and side to make the door lean, nothing seems to work.

So loud! Not worth your money
on May 14, 2021
Posted by: JMW21
I am thoroughly disappointed in this fridge. We've had multiple other GE fridges that we love, but this one does not hold up to their reputation. It operates SO LOUDLY any time the fridge has to work at all. It's a high-low humming that we can hear in other parts of our house, which we've never experienced with a fridge before. We had a GE technician come out to look at it and he said "that's just the way this one works" so we are now stuck with it, not able to return it. Don't waste your money on this one.

Hi - Thank you for reaching out regarding your beautiful GE refrigerator. We regret to hear of your disappointment with the new unit. The newer model refrigerators do have a higher sound level than models of the past. This is due in large part to the efficient high speed compressor that will run 80-90% of the time. The advantage to this design is it allows for more consistent temperatures in both the freezer and fresh food sections and it actually saves energy since the compressor uses more energy when it starts up vs when it's running. This new refrigerator will definitely seem louder due to these longer run times. We see you did have an authorized servicer check the refrigerator and they determined the refrigerator is operating normally. We certainly appreciate your feedback and will be sure to let our refrigeration design team know how you feel. We wish you all the best! Vikki@GEA
