I love my refrigerator. It fits in the space I had quite perfectly. It offers much more refrigerator room than what I previously had and the freezer is good size as well. The one problem I am having is it makes a noise throughout the day which is annoying and I’m not sure it supposed to do that but this is my first brand new refrigerator so I really don’t know!
Included the features I wanted at a reasonable pri

It's a noisy appliance. Yes, I hear the icemaker and the water that enters to make more ice, but it makes moaning sounds; and I hear the appliance almost all the time. In addition, it is narrower than my earlier, broken fridge. The GE capacity is nearly equal, but it is deeper. It can be difficult to reach shelved items in the back of the refrigerator. Overall, I am pleased.
I bought this item to replace the exact same one I had for years. Much to my surprise, only 7 weeks after delivery, the compressor completely died, leaving me to throw out everything inside.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hey there,
We're so sorry to hear that the compressor if your new refrigerator has completely died. We understand how frustrating this is and apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. We always strive to provide quality products and we will forward your information over to our product team for development.
We want to help, and we've reached out to you via email to gather some additional information. Please be on the lookout for that, and we look forward to corresponding with you and getting this issue resolved.
This is a basic refrigerator, but was what was available in 30 inch width I needed. I like everything about it; except the high pitch humming sound. The manual says: “The new high efficiency compressor may run faster and longer than your old refrigerator and you may hear a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound while it is operating.“ This humming drives me crazy! I think that this is more bothersome for some people than others as it doesn’t seem to bother my daughter, but she doesn’t live here. I’ve had the refrigerator for 3 weeks and it still bothers me. If high pitched noises bother you this is not the refrigerator for you.
We had a 20 year old model that still worked well, but as we are getting older, the top freezer model made the items we used very low. Too much stooping and bending! This is so convenient & easy to access foods. Having a holiday BBQ z , so this is the first time I've had the new fridge. Easy to put our supplies in the space! Definitely takes some getting used to, but love it! Happy to have made the purchase!
I rent an apartment with this refrigerator, and besides the high rental price, the refrigerator noise is the only thing I dislike. The refrigerator makes a very loud noise all the time (the compressor fan in the freezer at the bottom keeps running all day every day), if you leave the door opened for a few minutes, the thing kicks all fans at full speed for hours. The temperatures are ok, the appliance refrigerates well, but my 'decades' older refrigerator does not make even half of the noise of this 'supposed' ultra-modern refrigerator does. I am very bothered and frustrated. I am an engineer and I know how consumer end products should be designed and tested. Here in the reviews they even acknowledge that they do not rate the noise levels in dB (of course, because then consumers would find out before buying them!) but the definitely should provide that information because us the consumers will be hearing this all day, especially now with this new 'normal' working from home. It is so loud that even with headphones on I can hear how low it is. The unit does not show you when it will shut off, or for how long it has to run this loud. I highly recommend that you look for another refrigerator model that makes less noise than this one. Message for GE engineering:: running the compressor longer for energy-saving purposes and multiple fans at full speed does not justify sacrificing user comfort; you guys are paid for coming up with a design that balances those trade-offs, I spend hours learning and trying things in my job in order to provide good solutions in the stuff that I make/design, please do that as well. I have now spend several hours researching technicians biogs and reading users manuals just to find out that I should fully load the refrigerator and those super loud nosies are "normal".
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello there - we're happy to see that you rated this unit high on appearance. At the same time, we're sorry that your experience with this refrigerator hasn't been what you expected.
Most modern refrigerators with more storage space and a larger freezer require more operating time, and they start and stop often to maintain even temperatures. We do recommend checking that the doors are properly sealed when they are closed to guarantee that the temperature inside the unit isn't affected. We also recommend referencing the following article to learn more about common refrigerator sounds: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=15901
While we noticed that the refrigerator came with the apartment you're renting, we still recommend scheduling a service appointment for one of our qualified technicians to assess your unit. You can schedule an appointment by calling us at: 1-800-432-2737, or online here: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm
